In honor of Vet Tech Week we would like to introduce you to another hard working and compassionate veterinary nurse who has a heart of gold! Meet Maggie!

About Maggie:

Maggie knew that she wanted to join the field of Veterinary Medicine when she was just 8 years old. She always enjoyed taking her family's cats to the Veterinarian with her mom and fell in love with the field quickly. She became a Veterinary Assistant in April of 2015 and soon saw that becoming a Veterinary Technician and being hands on with the patients was her true calling. She then went to college, took the Veterinary Technician National Exam and became a Registered Veterinary Technician in January 2022.
Maggie just celebrated one year of being a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Valley Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center on October 10, 2025.

Maggie loves building a bond with her patients and ensuring that they have the absolute best care and are as comfortable possible.
She also really enjoys animal nutrition, client education and always learning new skills in Veterinary Medicine.

On her days off Maggie enjoys spending family time with her two sons Ryder and Rhett, her fiancé John, and her future step-son Tanner. They enjoy exploring outside, walking their dogs Willow and Duke, going fishing and going to the park. She also enjoys quiet time snuggling with her cats SJ, Lilo and Butter.

Maggie, your massive heart and beautiful soul is invaluable to VVERC. Each and every patient you interact with is so blessed to have you. Your gift for caring about both patients and clients is undeniable. The veterinary medicine field is so lucky you decided to become a licensed technician and we sincerely appreciate everything you do as you do it with a big heart!

In honor of Vet Tech Week we are excited to introduce the community to another one of our wonderful veterinary nurses!! Please meet Lily!

A message from Lily:

“My name is Lily, and I’ve been in the vet field since 2017 although I’ve only been a licensed veterinary nurse since 2023. I was originally going to be a pastry chef but then needed help paying my dog’s medical bills, so I started working at her primary general practice as a receptionist for a little discount. I quickly fell in love with the field and moved up to be an assistant within a year. I instantly knew I wanted to get my license and become an ER LVT (I thrive in a chaotic environment).
I have a special place in my heart for pitbulls and the scared dogs that need a little TLC and fear free handling (lots of snackies)!
If I’m not working an overnight shift, you will usually find me at the gym, roller skating, or hiking with my dog and husband. My husband is also an overnight ER LVT, and we met in Vet Tech school! We worked together the past 1.5years at VEG in Henderson NV where I gained a lot of experience with emergency medicine and exotics. We have a goal to hit all National Parks in the country and so far, we have explored 13/63 in the last 2 years!
I moved back to the northern Virginia area from Nevada this fall which is when I started working at VVERC. The goal is to one day be able to specialize in emergency medicine, but I am so happy with how far I've come with my veterinary career and where I am right now.
I hope you never have to bring your pet into the ER but if you do, I can't wait to meet them and be their nurse!”

Lily, your love and passion for every fury creature out there is so obvious and extremely appreciated. We admire your confidence, determination, and dedication! We are extremely happy you chose veterinary medicine as our hospital is a better place with you here caring for the animals in this community!! We adore you!

In honor of Vet Tech Week, we are excited to introduce you to some of the veterinary nurses who make this community and our hospital a better place! Please meet the beautiful and incredibly empathetic Kelley!

A special message from Kelley:
“I became a Licensed Veterinary Technician because of my love for animals. Not only do I find joy in helping them heal, but they've also played a significant role in helping me heal. Animals have supported me through some of the most difficult times in my life, and now it feels like it's my turn to be there for them during theirs.
I recently moved to the area from Virginia Beach after graduating and becoming newly licensed. Even in this short time, I've already learned so much from LVTs who guided me during school, as well as from my prior coworkers who continue to shape my journey and support me from afar. Things I really enjoy in veterinary medicine would be neurology, anesthesia and births.
One of the biggest challenges I've faced since becoming an LVT is accepting that I can't fix every patient. It's a hard reality, but it’s one that motivates me to keep learning, growing, and giving my best to every animal in my care.
In my off time, I am obsessing over my animals, a cat who is the love of my life, named Jeremiah, and a sheltie named Streusel. I'm convinced I was a mermaid in a past life, and can't wait to explore the surrounding areas for all the water adventures! My yearly vacation is Universal Studios Florida, where I fall more in love with Harry Potter each time I go.”

Kelley we are so blessed to have you on our team! Your contagious smile and sincere love for both clients and patients shines through every single day! We love you!

We are very blessed to have a team of doctors who support VVERC and truly put patient care first during last minute challenges! In regards to our previous post, one of our doctors is experiencing a family emergency and originally we were going to need to close our doors for a temporary amount of time, but thankfully one of our emergency doctors found time to come in at the last minute so we will be OPEN as usual. We thank the community so much for sticking with us as we navigate things. Again, we are extremely blessed to have a team of doctors, staff and management who make time to prioritize the fur babies in this community no matter the time of day. We sincerely do our very best to prioritize the beautiful pets and incredible clients within this community. We are open per usual. In ten days it will officially be National Dog Day! We are here for it! To kick it off early, we would love for everyone to share photos of their precious pups in the comments section below! Share as many photos as you’d like!

“National Dog Day was created as a way to celebrate all dogs, whether they are purebred or mixed. The most significant message that Paige wants to get out is the plight of these animals in need of rescue. The day is also about celebrating how dogs impact our lives—from the loving family pups to the canines that save people’s lives.”

Celebrate National Dog Day by learning when it is and exploring creative ways to celebrate and honor your furry friend.
