It’s always a good day when a boarding dog finishes up training and gets to head home. 🐾

When our training dogs go home, we try to send everything owners need to keep working with them and continue building on what they learned here.

Each dog may go home with a training packet for at-home work, a certificate, notes on any extra training or evaluations that were requested, and whether those were passed or failed. If AKC evaluations were done and passed, we send that information as well. ✨

We also send a ribbon of honorable mention from us, because every dog deserves recognition for the hard work they put in while they’re here. 🙌🐾

After many wonderful years of caring for your beloved pets, we want to share an important update.

Our veterinary clinic will be closing as Dr. Aldridge retires from full-time practice. Dr. Aldridge is talking with Family Pet Clinic about working a day or two per week there and moving our records to their clinic. We will let you know what is decided.

We expect to close June 26th. We will reduce our hours in the weeks before to allow us time to prepare for closing, so be sure to call ahead if you need an appointment. We are happy to continue caring for your pets leading up to closing.

If you need copies of your pet’s medical records or assistance transitioning care to another clinic, please contact us at [email protected]. We will not be printing records, but can email them to you and/or the veterinary team you transition to. Kaitlin will continue to monitor the email address periodically for a few months to assist any that are late to the news.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your pets’ lives. We will always cherish the memories.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Dr. Aldridge and the Westwood Team

Training Truth Thursday: Enrichment matters.

A tired dog is not always a “ran around the yard for two hours” dog. Sometimes, the best way to tire a dog out is by giving their brain something productive to do.

Enrichment helps dogs problem-solve, use their nose, build confidence, and release energy in a healthier way.

How does your trainer spend their 1:00 AM?

These are the nights most of you don’t get to see. While the world is quiet, we’re still working dogs, getting reps in, and making sure our board-and-train dogs get the consistency they need.

We work them day and night because training doesn’t just happen when it’s convenient. The early bird may get the worm, but the owl gets the quietest part of the night. 🌙
