August is National Immunization Awareness Month! 💉🐾 Keeping your pet current on vaccinations is an important part of protecting their long-term health and helping prevent the spread of serious diseases. We’re sharing a few helpful reminders about why vaccines matter for pets and our community alike. ❤️

✔️ Vaccinations can help avoid costly treatments for diseases that can often be prevented
✔️ Vaccines help protect against illnesses that can spread between animals, and even from animals to people
✔️ Diseases found in wildlife, such as rabies and distemper, can infect and spread among unvaccinated pets

At First State Urgent Vet, we not only provide walk-in urgent care, but also offer wellness care to help keep your pets healthy year-round. So if you need a last-minute vaccine before summer travel or want to make sure your pet is up to date on their preventative care, we’re here to help.

We’re open 7 days a week from 10 AM to 7 PM, making it easy to get care when you need it most.

After being a beloved Downtown Newark tradition for nearly 30 years, and taking a 5+ year hiatus, we are beyond excited to celebrate the revival of Newark Nite on Main Street to kick off the summer!

Newark Nite has always been known for bringing the community together to experience everything our city has to offer, featuring live performers, games, local vendors, family-friendly fun, and so much more right in the heart of downtown.

As we bring this tradition back in 2026, we’re expecting a wonderful mix of nostalgia for those who’ve enjoyed it in the past and a renewed excitement for what’s ahead for Newark’s future events.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the courageous service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. As many gather with family, enjoy time outdoors, and celebrate the holiday, we also take a moment to reflect on the meaning behind today and those we remember. ❤️🤍💙

First State Urgent Vet is closed today in observance of Memorial Day, but we’ll be back tomorrow from 10am–7pm and ready to help your pets when you need us. Have a safe holiday, and don’t forget to keep your furry friends safe during the festivities! 🐾
