One of the questions we’re asked most often is, “Why do you have so many black cats?” At Adopt A Cat, we believe every cat deserves the chance to find a safe, loving forever home — regardless of their color. Did you know black cats are often overlooked in shelters simply because of their color? This phenomenon, known as Black Cat Syndrome, means these beautiful cats tend to wait longer for homes and are adopted less often than cats with lighter coats.

But black cats are just as loving, playful, affectionate, and unique as every other cat. In fact, many people who adopt them say they are some of the sweetest companions imaginable. 💚

✨ Meet Mars! ✨

You may recognize this beautiful girl’s name from a while back when she was adopted. Unfortunately, Mars has found herself back with us — not because of anything she or her adopter did wrong, but because circumstances arose that were beyond the adopter’s control.

Mars is a stunning black beauty with a glossy coat that shines and bright yellow eyes as beautiful as sunflowers. 🌻🐈‍⬛

She is gentle, sweet, and a little shy. Mars will need a patient and understanding home where she can take her time to warm up on her own terms. Once she feels safe and loved, we know she will truly blossom.

Now all Mars needs is a loving forever family willing to give her the chance she deserves.

🎉🎉Our sweet, adorable, and quite the character Wally has officially found his forever home ❤️🐾

Peter and Joan came in to meet several of the cats they had seen online, and there were definitely a few strong contenders. But Wally had other plans — he climbed right into Peter’s lap and made himself completely at home. It was clear there was something special between them.

After going home to think about which kitty was the perfect fit, they decided on Wally because of the instant bond he shared with Peter. We couldn’t be happier for all of them!

Congratulations to Wally, Peter, and Joan on the start of a wonderful new chapter together 💕

Karina has found her forever home!! 🐾💕

This beautiful girl was adopted by a wonderful young couple who were searching for the perfect kitten to add to their family — and Karina was the perfect match!

Speckles has found her forever home!! 🖤🤍🐾

Sometimes animals have a way of finding exactly the person who needs them most. Nathaniel recently lost his mother, and his grandfather brought him in because he wanted a cat. The moment they met, Speckles chose him. ❤️

It was such a special connection to witness, and we truly believe these two were meant to find each other. Speckles now has a loving home, and Nathaniel has a sweet new companion to help bring comfort, love, and healing.
