The Florida department of revenue is going after our family's business for sales tax on livestock feed that we sold in 2020 through 2023. They are saying that we should have had a tax exemption certificate from every person that purchased chicken, goat pig, cattle, or any other livestock feed from us. They are saying that is the only way that you can not charge tax on these feeds. THAT IS INCORRECT! Florida statue 212.08(7)d
States that feeds for poultry, ostriches, and livestock, including race, horses and dairy cows are exempt from tax in the State of Florida.
Yesterday I went around to six different local businesses and purchased various livestock feeds and NEVER once was I asked to present a tax exemption certificate. I videoed this and it is in the full video. The Florida department of revenue is unlawfully coming after our family for something that we do not owe. They are trying to collect almost $150,000 from our family. They even threatened to come after our family Personally if we don't pay. I'm begging anyone that can help, to please help. We have spent our entire life savings paying a lawyer to fight this. We have been forced into bankruptcy. We never collected the money and in the state of the Florida livestock feed is non-taxable.
Why is our family's business being targeted? Why are they holding us to a different standard than every other business in the State of Florida. Why was I able to walk into six different businesses yesterday and purchase livestock food without paying tax. Why is the Florida department of revenue saying that we have to show certificates for all that feed when nowhere else in the State of Florida does any business have to do that? We want answers.
