Four Legged Freedom Rescue is desperately in need of foster homes for some cats and kittens. If anyone has a spare bedroom or bathroom for these kitties please reach out to the rescue. Nina covers all supplies and you just need to give them a safe space and love until they find their forever homes. There are kittens in need of a place to go but she cannot take them without spaces for them. :-)

Hi! I’m Ella!

I’ve been grooming for just under two years and I’ve been apart of the Waggerstown team over a year now. I have always loved animals and knew from a young age I wanted a profession where I could be surrounded by both animals, and other people who share the same love for them.

I started working with dogs as a dog walker/day care attendant while living in NYC in 2018 and since returning to Maine I have continued to work with dogs in many different aspects. In 2023 I was presented with the opportunity to learn how to groom, and shortly after I became certified through the Paragon School of Pet Grooming.

I love working with dogs of all sizes, temperaments and breeds, but I have a special love for the senior pups that often require a more gentle and accommodating approach. I love making them feel safe and confident during the grooming process, and sending them home feeling comfortable and clean. My goal is to always make their owner feel how I would want to feel when handing my own dog off to any pet professional.

Outside of work, I enjoy time with family and friends as well as my crew of animals - which consist of my dog, Lucy, our 3 sweet cats and a handful of senior ferrets.

Next up in our groomer spotlight series is…. Me 🙋🏻‍♀️

Hi, I’m Ginger, the salon manager here at Waggerstown — and I truly can’t imagine doing anything else. Originally from Georgia, I moved to Maine about 12 years ago. After the unexpected loss of my beloved dog, I was drawn to a career that would keep me close to animals. That journey led me to grooming, and I’ve been in love with it ever since.

Never in a million years did I think I’d be grooming dogs by the beach in beautiful Wells, Maine — it’s truly a dream come true.

As a groomer, I’m passionate about teaching and mentoring others, as well as creative grooming and Asian fusion styles. I especially enjoy detailed, technical haircuts that require precision and patience. I have a soft spot for puppies and misunderstood dogs, and I find so much joy in helping them feel safe, confident, and cared for. I’m also deeply committed to continuing education and regularly connect with industry leaders to grow my skills and stay inspired.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me outdoors — hiking, fishing, or enjoying the lake or beach with my Pit mix, Scooter.

I’m incredibly proud of the team we’ve built at Waggerstown. Their dedication and talent are a direct reflection of the high standards I value — and it’s an honor to lead and support them every day.

About me!
I’m a mama to 3 dogs; Toby~Husky mix, Mako~German Shepherd, & Bella~ Pit mix.
1 cat; Dunn. 2 guinea pigs; Chester & Dexter & Frost the snake!
I've been grooming dogs for over 3 years and a Vet Tech for over a year! I fell in love with grooming and absolutely love grooming large fluffy dog breeds, like Bernese Mountain dogs, huskies, German Shepherd’s, border collies and more!
As a child, I had a Golden Retriever named Chase and we shared the same birthday! I've always grown up with many animals which led me to want to work with them and make bandanas and other accessories!

Next up: Hanna

Hi! I’m Hanna, and I’ve been a professional dog groomer for 2 years. After graduating college, I knew I wanted a career I’d truly enjoy—something I could look forward to every day. That’s when I found grooming. I started as a bather and apprenticed under Ginger, learning from the best and discovering a real passion for this work.

I absolutely love getting to know each dog’s unique personality and forming special bonds with both pets and their people. It’s so rewarding to help dogs look and feel their best, and I take pride in making every grooming session a positive and comfortable experience.

I was born and raised in York, and when I’m not at the salon, you can usually find spending time with my fiancé and family. I’m also hoping to add a furry friend to my life soon. I can’t wait to meet your furry friend!

We just received an email stating PetMate (Not PetSafe) is raising their cost to us by 25.8% in June due to tariffs. These tariffs have not happened and there is no guarantee that they will happen. If tariffs happen we will not have any option but to raise our prices but will not unless we 100% have to when our prices go up. I'm feeling like PetMate is just jumping on a wagon because they think that they can because of fear mongering. I 100% agree they need to if tariffs take place but this is gouging at its best. Shame on them for gouging and making a very difficult time a more difficult time. We will try to find alternative vendors to replace their products and I urge customers to do the same. Let them know it is not ok.

We’re loving all the love for our “Meet the Groomer series” and it’s time to introduce another amazing member of our team!!

Hello! I’m Haylie. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a deep love for animals—especially dogs. My first ever job was working as a receptionist at a grooming salon and I was always in awe of the work that was done there. After growing up and going through college, I found my way back to the salon as a groomer.
Working in the grooming industry gives me the perfect opportunity to combine my passion for animals with my creative side. Whether I’m giving a pup a fresh, clean look or adding some personality with a fun cut, I always aim to make each dog feel comfortable, cared for, and confident like they’re my own.
I believe grooming should be a positive experience, so I focus on building trust with every dog that comes through the door. No two dogs are the same, and that’s what I love most—every day brings a new personality, a new challenge, and a new chance to help a dog look and feel their best!

Next up in our “Meet the Groomer” series… Susan!
You’ve met one amazing member of our team… now it’s time to meet another!

My name is Susan and I have been professionally grooming for about 10 years. I graduated
from A Plus Pet Grooming Academy and my first job as a groomer was at Dog’s Paradise in
Detroit, Maine. I loved working with Melissa (owner) and while school had taught me the
technique and artistry, not only did she help me refine those skills, but she also showed me
how to work with the dogs that really didn’t want to be getting a haircut. While I was there, I
had my three children, and after the third was born, my husband and I decided we wanted to
be closer to our family in Southern Maine. We moved to Kennebunk and I stayed home to
raise my girls for a few years. I have been here at Waggerstown for about 2 years now and I
absolutely love the team here. I have met so many nice dogs and their people, many who feel
like family.
At home I have a miniature dachshund named Diglett and he is my bestest buddy. I love to
take him on hikes in the summer and to the beach in the evenings. He is also a fabulous
napping companion. Additionally, my family and I foster dogs from the AWS regularly.
Dogs are my passion and keeping them as comfortable and happy as possible while taking
care of them is my goal. Whether they are happy to be there, nervous, or downright scared, I
will do my very best to make their appointment a pleasant experience. There is no better
feeling than when you witness a dog making significant behavior progress. I feel like a proud
mama. Ultimately, the best grooming ends with the client looking AND feeling good.
