How can you tell that you had a great vet visit? A face full of cheese whiz says it all! Miss Charlotte is always a star when she comes in for her vet visits! And she loves cheese! We just love her! 💕💕🐶🐾

❓How many stones did you guess from yesterday's case? ❓

Alice ended up having *37* stones removed from her bladder! Our team was shocked that there were so many. They ranged in size from a golf ball to a fingernail.
Please help us in wishing our patient a sp*edy recovery 💜

Meet Alice 🐶🐾
Her owner noticed that she was trying to go p*e more frequently and the urine was no longer yellow, it was turning red.
Our diagnostics showed she had more than just a UTI - Alice also had a bladder full of stones! We were able to fit her in for surgery, remove the stones, and are developing a plan to prevent them from coming back. We are so happy to get her feeling comfortable again 💜

Equine Dental Discount Month 🐴🦷
We still have a few spots open in October and November for sedated oral exams and floats.
Dr. Kaci is pictured here with technician Alivia and patient Duncan doing one of the most important steps of our dental exam: using a large mirror to evaluate each surface of the tooth and gum line. Doing so helps us find early stages of disease, fractured teeth, and stuck foreign material. A dental should be so much more than just filing teeth!
Call us at 618-939-4111 to get your horse's appointment secured. This visit is a great time to booster the flu/rhino vaccine as well!

Charity the donkey was ready for Halloween with her "fangs"! 🧛‍♀️
This sweet girl had a sedated dental exam & float performed by our team, where it was discovered she had extra-long points on the front of her cheek teeth! This was keeping her from proper chewing. If you remember from previous years' posts, horses need this checked annually to catch malalignments & prevent issues!

Charity had her hooks filed down & has a much easier time eating since then! Now the only question is, what should she be for Halloween, now that a vampire is out?! 🎃

October & November are our Equine Dental Discount months. It's also time for flu/rhino boosters! Call or message us to get scheduled!

A true glow-up ✨ Meet Hank!
Remember the post about skin mites called Demodex last month? This is the face behind it all.

Hank came to us for a second-opinion. He was being treated for mites & a skin infection, but he was continuing to get worse.

✅ We performed a skin scrape test & saw dead mites, meaning his treatment was appropriate
✅ Checked his thyroid levels to make sure he wasn't immunocompromised (he wasn't)
❌ And performed a skin culture that showed us he had a resistant skin infection to the current antibiotic he was taking

After 6 weeks of treatment, which included flea/tick prevention for the mites, appropriate antibiotics, & medicated baths - Hank is looking & feeling SO much better!

He is a great example of why our team may recommend more in-depth diagnostics like skin samples, bloodwork, & cultures. These tools help us get to the root cause, & get results. We are so honored to be a part of his care team. 🐾

We recommend floating teeth every year because it can make such a huge impact on your horse’s quality of life in just one appointment.

Sharp points, waves in the teeth, or even missing teeth cause major malalignments. It’s impossible for you to know until it causes a complication & trust us, that isn’t fun for anyone. We’re happy to come to you, do a full oral exam, & make sure they’re healthy until next year!
