😻 STARSKY came from a well- publicized rescue. John Debacker dug 2 tiny orange tabbies out from under a woodpile in an Amityville yard.
The photo of STARSKY, the fluffier kitten, crying when John pulled him out of the hole, covered with woodchips went viral.🏡
Last Hope put the orange babies - STARSKY & HUTCH- in foster care.
When neutered, they came to our Wantagh Cat Center. STARSKY was adopted quickly; HUTCH has an application.
STARSKY hit it off with his new family immediately. He will meet his feline house buddy FEET soon.STARSKY's new name will be NEMO.

📚 Last Hope Pups went on an expedition outside Bellmore Library yesterday. Because of the harsh winds at the end of May, their outing felt more like Robert Peary's 1909 trek to the North Pole than a dog adoption event on the South Shore
of Long Island.🐕
Library patrons met Last Hope adoptables ELVIRA & NEO at their info campsite at the library' s front door.
Volunteer Margie was wrapped in Native American blanket like Sacajawea guiding Lewis & Clark through the West.
Whistling winds do not promote adoptions, but NEO & ELIZA displayed their own
shining temperaments.......Thanks to our adventurous volunteer escorts- Kim, Margie, Jaimi, Dan V, Dan D, and Fred- who all braved the chills of May 2026.

🐈 SASHA & STEVIE are bonded siblings. now 2.5 months old, and at the Wantagh Cat Center for adoption. 🪜
Oddly enough, the tortie sister & mostly white brother, when merely 5 week old orphans, were rescued at an Inwood construction site.
It's doubtful they got there on their own power, so either something bad happened to their mom or someone bad abandoned them there.
SASHA was too young to do spackling, and STEVIE wasn't strong enough yet to cut 2 by 4s.
These sweet cuties were fostered by volunteer Lisa W who sings their praises.
We would love for SASHA & STEVIE to find a wonderful home together, and a home where they will not be required to do MANual or CATual labor..

This Kentucky shelter refugee is a 1 year old tri-colored Beagle mix, full
grown at 29 pounds.
He is sweet, but low key.
RANGER arrived at Last Hope at the end of February. Now that it is the end of May, it's definitely time RANGER go
home on the range owned by
someone nice.

( However, his adopter need not own playful deer or antelope. RANGER will be content.)

They were adopted together by a kind family. And will soon meet 2 dog housemates.
Earlier this month, the
darling duo was discovered fending for themselves in a a.Ridge yard. The Good Samaritan who found them, told their former owner she was going to take them- former owner didn't care.
SALMA will become OLIVE while GEORGE will probably remain GEORGE.
It's wonderful that SALMA & GEORGE were surrounded by people who 'Do Care" after they were abandoned outside.

🌟 STARR is a big-boned Plott mix in Georgia who is about to become a star at Last Hope 🌟
She arrived at the Georgia shelter after being hit by a car that broke her rear leg. She had orthopedic repair with screws & pins.
She is 1 year old, 40 pounds.
Plotts are similar to Coonhounds, but STARR has a heavier build than a purebred Plott (the state dog of North Carolina).
Her Georgia sending shelter says STARR is very affectionate and a calm, laid back pup.
STARR would love to meet you but first she has to finish her 18 hour rescue transport ride to Long Island.

This handsome, orange tabby lad was the first of MADALINE's 5 "flower" kittens to go home.
He was the only boy &
notice how his name combines a flower with a "lion".
His pet parents are very feline friendly. Soon Mr. D
will be meeting his canine housemates- PITASCHIO &
KASHMIR.
The jury is out about whether DANDELION keeps his name, but it's a sure bet, he will keep purrrrrrring.

This compassionate event is a joint effort of Babylon
Village Hall & South Shore
Feral Care (SSFC).
This tiny, but mighty, feline rescue will cover all veterinary expenses & perform all steps of Trap/ Neuter/ Return for cat caretakers feeding intact "community cats" in Babylon Village. SSFC hopes to spay/neuter, vaccinate,
& eartip 40 cats on June 6th.

🐕 We have Magnificent MAGGIE News🇵🇷
Our Puerto Rico pup who flew to New York via All Sato Rescue before both monstrous snowstorms has a loving
home.
MAGGIE went to a Pajama
Party weekend foster home before each blizzard. We knew she relaxed in a home, and showed much better outside of a kennel setting where she was anxious & not as welcoming.
Actually in MAGGIE' s last FB post, we asked & hoped MAGGIE would get a home in May.
She did. MAGGIE " left the building " on May 11th
because her pup parents saw the inner family pet that had been hidden inside MAGGIE & made this quality come forward as her reality.

TOPAZ originally came to Last Hope 4 years ago when she was still a kitten.
Last Hope took TOPAZ as 1 in a group of 13 cats & kittens existing inside a Brentwood hoarder home with too many cats, more than the owner could manage. . The landlord was agreeable this solution too .
We had TOPAZ a long time until she was adopted by someone who took 2
unrelated and different age cats from a free roamer but the cat combo didn't mesh, behavior problems popped up. After suggestions didn't help, both came back with Last Hope's encouragement & approval.
Both TOPAZ & her former housemate were given time to decompress at the Center.
TOPAZ was re-adopted first, and her updates are glowing.
More from TOPAZ's new pet parent:
" TOPAZ is so loving & she listens to me. I just have to snap my fingers and she jumps right up on my stomach, and curls up. I can pet her and she goes to sleep. She is great. Thanks again."

2nd Time is the Charm.
