🐕 The Beneficiaries: Last Hope dogs, in memory of LOLA, beloved Chihuahua.
On Saturday BFFs-Ella & Vivianne -sales associates, and soon-to-be- 5th graders at Forest Lake Elem presented Last Hope with a tupperware of $- the profits from their 2nd annual lemonade sale for Last Hope.
The girls made the rainbow slime & lemonade from their top secret recipe, and held a sale in July outside their school.
Their similar 2025 lemo sale benefited our cats, and this year's sale supports our dogs in memory of Vivianne's family's beloved 15 yr old Chihuahua who passed several months ago. LOLA was like an older sister to Vivianne.
The girls conducted their lemo/slime sale like a car wash. They held signs closer to the road to attract carloads of thirsty customers to their cool drinks & slime.
At the end of 2 hours, they had raised $119 for Last Hope's homeless pups.
During their Sat. Center visit, our friendly Beagle ELLIE posed with the girls to show appreciation from every Last Hope dog.
Ella & Vivianne met all our dogs, and most of our cats.
PINKY & RASPBERRY gave their purrsonal thanks.
The girls are true pet lovers.
And as a nice coincidence, their tour director (me) student-taught in a 5th grade at Forest Lake Elem...but that was during a different century...when there was no evidence of a top secret recipe for rainbow slime.

The fluffy duo was rescued from a Rockville Centre yard, and fostered by Stacy where they learned to harmonize.
NOW 3 months old, YOKO & RINGO are performing their cuteness at our Wantagh Cat Center concert hall.

He is an adorable new arrival - an 8yr Beagle, only 21 lbs, from Kentucky who is so happy to be rescued that he smoooches each volunteer he meets at Last Hope.

LOUIS V was rescued from under a Bellmore shed right after Fourth of July. At the time, he was about 9 weeks old.
Speculating, he may have been separated from his feline family because of the fireworks.
He came to Last Hope intake clinic in a brown grocery bag- not a typical carrier. The team was surprised.
This cute orange & white youngster will be 4 months old soon.
LOUIS VUITTON is at our Wantagh Cat Center waiting to impress you with his charm & charisma.

🐕 TIPSY, adopted in April, is back at Last Hope after her adopter realized she was more dog than her family was prepared to handle. 🐕

🦮 Not because TIPSY is a bad dog—she is a young (3 yr), intelligent, energetic and adorable in a Disney Dog way.

🐕‍🦺 However, she needs the right environment, structure, and commitment to help her succeed.

🐩 TIPSY recently had.a DNA profile. She is Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix with a little Poodle. This combo means TIPSY needs a job.

🇦🇺 Both her Aussie breeds are
Herding Dogs who thrive when they have a purpose. They are hard-wired to push groups of animals around.

❤️ TIPSY requires more than a few walks around the block. She needs a yard where her people have the time, patience, and willingness to provide daily exercise, training, structure, and mental stimulation.

A securely fenced yard is a big plus, as an appropriate place for her to master ways to channel her energy.

🏃‍♀️ She could benefit from participating in performance events like agility, rally, or FastCat.

🐶 TIPSY can become overstimulated around people and other dogs and may lunge toward them, so she needs continued training and careful management.

🥔 Currently, she is not the right match for someone looking for an easygoing, low-maintenance dog.

😴 Interestingly, when TIPSY is in her kennel, she is calm and settled, showing she is capable of relaxing when she feels secure and has clear boundaries.

🏆 Now, after reading this, and ignoring that TIPSY is Ms. Photogenic, come visit TIPSY at Last Hope--- if you believe TIPSY & YOU are the Team that can bring her to her true pup potential.

This 1 year old black sweetheart cat was first noticed this winter by a volunteer's husband who commutes from Hicksville RR station. She was new & approachable,probably abandoned there.
As the weather got frigid & the first blizzard neared, PINKY tried to climb into the wheel wells of parked cars to stay warm.
His wife - volunteer Becki -visited the RR station to check out PINKY. Yes, she was friendly, quite friendly.
Soon after volunteers
Becki & Aggie trapped PINKY, and had her spayed with a "light" eartip. She recovered at Becki's home as her foster where she continued to show how affectionate & people- friendly she really is.
PINKY moved to our Wantagh Cat Center at the end of March.
It's the end of August- almost 5 months is a relatively longtime for such a sweet kitty to wait to be scooped up by an adopter at Last Hope.
Purrfect Placement....as is PINKY being welcomed home by someone who will welcome her home. Come meet her.

JAMES had a shocking start in life. He was rescued off the Hicksville PSEGLI (electric company) property aling with 2 older kittens . Wow!
