Yes, the auction is coming! It’s on its way but first here are a few details we need to share.
1) We still have a few items from last auction pending delivery. We will get these out to you this week. If you paid and have been waiting delivery all this time, we are refunding your money but will still deliver your item. Why? Because that’s how we roll. Items are normally out for delivery immediately and waiting for their arrival is unacceptable. Before this week’s end, all items will be delivered with our apology.

2) Auctions are VITAL to the survival of our rescue, providing much needed funding for vet care and supplies. You make such a difference with your support! Honestly, we have to have a source of funding such as this ongoing or we can’t pay our vet bills!

3) Unfortunately, we were recently slammed with new intakes and urgent cases. This becomes a Catch 22 situation as the need for funds drastically increases but so does our work load. When urgent cases present, our energy is directed to the need, thus our auction funding source gets postponed.

4) We are working hard to reorganize our auction to better streamline the process and prevent the need for any future delays.

5) Most of the work here is done with very few hands and I have been doubly slowed not only by increase in urgent cases for the rescue but surgery for cancer removal. I rarely post any personal things as such, i just put my big girl panties on and continue working. Why? Because that too is how we roll. Im sharing now only because our faithful friends deserve an explanation regarding our delay.

Ellie found the old window frame in her grandfather’s shed, dusty and forgotten. She remembered it once looked out over the porch of their family farmhouse — before the storm took the roof and time took Grandpa.

She didn’t want to throw it away. So she cleaned it up, gave it a distressed white coat, and hung it on the living room wall. Behind the panes, she gently folded her grandfather’s funeral flag — the one given to her with trembling hands and a 21-gun salute.

The stars and stripes lay still, partly tucked, partly falling, like a memory slipping just out of reach.

Every morning, Ellie sat in front of that frame with her coffee, just like Grandpa used to do. The flag didn’t wave in the wind anymore, but behind that old window, it still looked out — not on a field or a sky — but on love, legacy, and the quiet kind of pride that never fades.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: IH-10 CLOSURE THIS WEEKEND 🚧

Heads up, drivers! The main lanes of IH-10 eastbound and westbound will be CLOSED at Laurel Avenue for the Maury Meyers Bridge demolition starting 8 p.m. on Friday, May 2 through 5 a.m. on Monday, May 5.

➡️ All traffic will be diverted to the frontage roads.
🚫 Underpass closures will also be in effect at:

IH-10 & Calder Avenue
Harrison Street
North Street
11th Street
US 69 & Delaware Street
⚠️ Expect major delays and please plan alternate routes in advance. Thank you for your patience and drive safely!
