Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming our good friend Joey, who stopped by to showcase his newly acquired Gaboon Viper! These fascinating creatures are not only stunning but also packed with interesting characteristics. Here are some fun facts about Gaboon Vipers:

1. Impressive Size: Gaboon Vipers are one of the largest vipers in the world, often reaching lengths of 4 to 5 feet. Some individuals have even been recorded at over 6 feet!

2. Distinctive Appearance: They are renowned for their striking coloration, featuring a broad, flattened body with geometric patterns that help them blend into their forest floor habitat. Their coloration can range from light brown to dark brown or gray, with a characteristic hourglass pattern.

3. Largest Fangs: Gaboon Vipers boast the longest fangs of any snake, measuring up to 2 inches. These impressive fangs allow them to inject their potent venom effectively.

4. Venom: Their venom is hemotoxic, meaning it attacks the blood and tissues. Despite this, they are generally laid-back and tend to avoid confrontation unless threatened.

5. Habitat: Native to the rainforests and savannas of Central and West Africa, the Gaboon Viper prefers humid, dense environments, where they can hide among the leaf litter.
