This sweet boy is Pongo..

As many of you have seen before, Pongo use to be half of a bonded pair!

Pongo use to be with his mom, Perdita. Unfortunately Perdita got very sick and passed away.

Pongo is in need of a home with someone who can show him all the love he deserves!

He is going to thrive in a house with another dog! He also loves kids!

This beautiful, 2 year old boy is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet!

He gets so excited to go out for walks! 🐕‍🦺🚶‍♀️

He loves to jump up and give hugs! (He is pictured doing this and you can see the sad look in his eyes as he looks at our kennel manager) 🥺🥺

He is basically housetrained when kept on a schedule, though at first, he might have a few accidents.

If you’d like to meet this sweet soul, we are open 11-5 Tuesday-Friday and 11-3 on Saturday!

His adoption fee is $25! He is also available for foster to adopt

We will be closed Saturday July 19th due to plumbing issues we currently have 6 drains that are flooding our kennels. We have a plumber set to come and look at them and hopefully fix the issue sorry for any inconvenience.

*Regarding the black bear In Colbert Heights area:

By now, most people are probably aware that there is a black bear in the Colbert Heights area. It is believed to be a juvenile male that is simply passing through, looking for food and trying to survive as it travels. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FEED THE BEAR. Both Colbert Animal Control and Alabama state officials are aware of the situation and are monitoring the bear.

The best thing to do is keep your distance, protect your animals, and allow the bear to move on naturally. Black bears are protected in the state of Alabama, and killing one carries a $10,000 fine.

If the situation becomes life-threatening or someone is in immediate danger, please call 911. If the bear is acting aggressively or the situation feels unsafe, but no one is in immediate danger, please call animal control. If it’s after hours, you can call 911 and ask them to dispatch animal control. Animal control has direct access to the state wildlife contact and can help coordinate next steps.
