Meet Cerenia!

Cerenia finally feels hope now that she's in our care.

The Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office needed help with an urgent situation involving nearly 30 dogs on a vacant property inhabited by squatters. The dogs had no food or water and all were suffering with skin issues. Oklahoma Animal Alliance reached out to Tulsa SPCA to transport and take in 11 of these dogs.

Our main concern right now is to get these dogs healthy. Most are under a year old and have demodectic and sarcoptic mange. Only one of the dogs has skin in good enough shape to test for heartworms, and the poor girl is positive.

The mange is causing severe skin issues for many, with several having open wounds and actively bleeding as they came into our care. But they are still so desperate to love and be loved. They are SO happy to see people! Our staff said the two-hour trip back to campus with these 11 dogs was the quietest transport of their lives. They swear they knew they were being rescued!

Treatment for these pups is going to be expensive but we will not rest until they get all the care they need.

This weekend, we had the joy of doing something truly special for our shelter dogs. With the help of our amazing community, staff, and volunteers, our dogs got to take part in a fun-filled Egg Hunt—with specially scented eggs—and enjoy delicious pup cups!

It was a heartwarming day filled with tail wags, happy barks, and lots of smiles.

We are so sorry we had to cancel the public portion of our egg hunt due to the weather. Those who registered are still welcome to come during business hours to pick up your gift bag and a bag of eggs for your pup if you haven't already!

"Mamma is now Maddy 😌 she is the best girl! It took about two months to get her fully comfortable, but once she did, she just came alive! For being a senior kitty, she has so much energy and feistiness in her. Her and her canine brother, Jack, get along wonderfully and take many naps together! She's such a cuddle bug and lets me know immediately when she's out of food haha! So grateful for my little Maddy ❤️"

Recently, we were contacted about a home with nearly 40 cats—mostly kittens—living in less-than-ideal conditions. With kitten season fast approaching, we knew this situation could quickly spiral out of control.

Thanks to our incredible partnership with Glenpool Animal Control & Shelter, we’re ensuring these cats receive the care they need. We were able to take in 27 cats—6 adults and 21 kittens! Many had upper respiratory infections, and several kittens were underweight, but thanks to our amazing foster families, they’re on the road to recovery! ❤️

Pull up a chair and get extra comfy for this foster-turned-adopter HAPPY TAIL:

"Shark is a chunky boy! He loves to play in his tubes and boxes, adventures in the back yard, soft blankets, and me. He is a talker and let's me know when he has something on his mind.

He's started to tolerate my husband's cuddles, but he's still not sure about other people; he's a scaredy-cat. He loves Stella and always tries to be her friend.

He broke his leg back in October, ended up having surgery to take out the femur head, but that didn't slow him down. I love him so much! He's my stinky.

Thank you guys for the opportunity to foster him and his sister, I hope she's doing well too!"

🐾 April is Heartworm Awareness Month! 🐾

Did you know that heartworm disease is transmitted by mosquitoes? In Oklahoma, it doesn’t get cold enough for mosquitoes to die off in the winter, which means our pets are at risk year-round.

Prevention is key! Giving your dog a monthly heartworm preventative costs just $12–$18 per dose, while treatment can cost $500–$1,000 and take several months to complete. Also, dogs undergoing treatment must be kept on strict activity restriction, which can be tough on both the pet and their family.

Protect your furry friend by giving prevention year-round! It’s easier, safer, and far more affordable than treatment. 💙

Still no showings 😔
Princess has been with us longer than most, watching as her fellow shelter mates find their forever homes while she continues to wait. She came to us full of hope, her tail wagging and her eyes bright. But as time passes, it's been hard on her. The noise, the kennel, the lack of a family to call her own—it's starting to weigh on her spirit.

Yet, even on the tough days, Princess greets us with gentle eyes and a hopeful heart. She hasn’t given up, and neither have we. She’s longing for a quiet home, a soft bed, and someone to love her for who she is. She deserves a chance to thrive, to feel safe, and to know she's truly home.
