One of the most meaningful parts of my entrepreneurial journey has been creating My Neighbor Veterinary Hospital around the belief that veterinary care should be accessible to more families. I saw firsthand how often people deeply loved their pets but struggled with the rising cost of veterinary care. Too often, finances became the deciding factor in whether a pet could receive basic preventive care, be spayed or neutered, or get the treatment they needed.
I wanted to prove that there could be another model—one that provides compassionate, high-quality veterinary care while intentionally keeping services affordable. Building a locally owned veterinary hospital around that mission has not always been easy, but seeing the response from our community has made every challenge worthwhile.
The stories that stay with me most are the owners who come through our doors worried that they won’t be able to afford care for the animal they love, and then seeing the relief when they realize we can help. Sometimes what seems like a routine surgery, vaccine, or treatment to us means everything to that family.
What began as an idea to make veterinary care more accessible has grown into something much bigger: a community of people who believe that financial limitations shouldn’t automatically separate families from the pets they love. Watching that mission come to life—and seeing how much need there truly is for this kind of veterinary care—has been the most inspiring part of my entrepreneurial journey.
