We asked, and the Toledo community came through.

Thanks to our incredible supporters, kitten food has been arriving by mail to help feed the many cats and kittens in our care. Then, WTOL 11's Kaylee Bowers stopped by with even more donations and got some snuggles in with one of our newest little faces, Moo.

Well, she tried to get snuggles in; This little boy did not sit still for long.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, or helped spread the word. Every bag and every can makes a difference for the cats and kittens who need us!

Heat Safety Alert for Pets! 🚨

With temperatures finally starting to feel like summer, it's crucial to keep our pets safe and cool. Here are some important tips:

🐾 Hydration: Ensure your pets always have access to fresh water.
🌳 Shade: Make sure they have a shady spot to rest if they're outside.
🚗 No Cars: Never leave your pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
🔥 Paw Safety: Be cautious of hot asphalt; it can burn their paws.
🏃‍♂️ Exercise: Limit outdoor exercise to early mornings or late evenings.
🚨 Heatstroke: Know the signs: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or vomiting. If you suspect heatstroke, contact your vet immediately!

Today we are saying a very bittersweet goodbye to our dear friend and longtime Humane Ohio team member, Lauren.

For the past 9 years, Lauren has been such an important part of Humane Ohio. She has been a leader, a problem solver, a steady presence, and a true advocate for the animals and people we serve. Her progressive thinking, compassion, and dedication have helped shape our work in meaningful ways, and she has always kept the pets first in everything she does.

Lauren has brought so much heart, care, and leadership to Humane Ohio, and she will be missed dearly by all of us.

Thank you Lauren for being you! We love you and will miss you!

Remember Bagel and McMuffin?

These sweet adult cats are still waiting for their people, and we think kitten season is the perfect time to give them a little extra love. Kittens are everywhere right now, and we totally get it, they are adorable. But adult cats have so much to offer, too.

They come with fully developed personalities, lots of love to give, and that wonderful “what you see is what you get” charm. Bagel and McMuffin are past the tiny kitten chaos stage, but they still have plenty of sweetness, fun, and companionship to share.

So while you are scrolling through all the kitten cuteness this season, please don’t forget to check out the adult cats who are also hoping for homes. Bagel and McMuffin are ready whenever their perfect families find them.

Kittens may be tiny, but they can absolutely put away some food.

This Wishlist Wednesday, we’re asking for help restocking dry kitten food for the growing babies in our care. Keeping up with hungry kittens during kitten season is no small task, and every donated bag helps more than you know.

Melody, one of our adoptable kittens, asked us to mention she’s a big fan of this idea.

Frankly Plant Based Kitchen is back at Humane Ohio on Wednesday, May 27th!

Take a little lunch break, get outside, and stop by for something delicious from Frankly, the all-vegan hot dog food truck. They’ll be set up in our parking lot at 3948 W. Alexis Road from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

Even better, $1 from every hot dog sold will be donated back to Humane Ohio, so lunch helps support the animals right here in our community.

Come hungry, bring a friend, and enjoy a little midweek pick-me-up with us!
