Cedar County League for Animal Welfare CCLAW is a volunteer / foster based, licensed 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, that does rescue and TNVR for cats in Cedar County. CCLAW is it's own etinty.

Cedar County League for Animal Welfare (CCLAW) is a volunteer based, foster to adopt, non-profit, licensed 501 (c)(3) organization. All donations to our organization are tax deductible. Our organization is run by former animal rescue / shelter board members and volunteers who have life-long experience with animals. The stray, homeless, and feral cat population is an issue in many areas, and Cedar

County is no exception. We work tirelessly to keep this population under control through our trap, neuter, vaccinate, release (TNVR) program and via rescue through our foster to adopt program. We are a NO KILL organization, with exceptions made only under extreme circumstances for animals who are unable to be helped, and such decisions are not made without the guidance of our trusted local veterinarians. CCLAW maintains positive working relationships with many animal shelters and non-profit rescues throughout Iowa which allows us to network and ensure the best possible outcome for all cats in our care.

🆘 🆘 🆘 🆘

We have a financial emergency coming our way.

You see, Itty Bitty, who is the MOST affectionate and loving cat we have ever met has been with us for two months (after being trapped as part of our TNVR efforts) and we have been to the veterinarian multiple times and have spent around $1,000 trying to get a diagnosis for her (at this point chronic) HORRIBLE diarrhea. We will spare you the details.

After EXTENSIVE attempts at restoring her health, the diagnosis may now ultimately be narrowed down to FIP (feline infectious peritonitis). This condition was once considered fatal; however, with all of the advances in healthcare, there is now an effective treatment.

So, what is the problem you might ask? The medication that we need to save Itty Bitty’s life will cost close to $3,000.

Her situation is becoming dire, and unfortunately, we do not have the finances this medication. It would render us unable to help any other animal(s) for a very long time.

CCLAW has another kitten intake (coming Thursday from West Branch). UPDATE: Unfortunately, this sweet baby, who had been named Gizmo, died on Tuesday 5/26/2026 before making it to our rescue. He was well cared for by his temporary foster mother and only knew love at the end of his short life. We suspect that he had congenital issues that were incompatible with (a long) life. RIP Gizmo.

CCLAW currently has limited availability for low cost 🐈‍⬛ CAT ONLY 🐈‍⬛ spay / neuter appointments. The appointments are on TUESDAYS only and we will provide transportation to Iowa Humane Alliance.

See available packages below:

📦 Package 1:
Spay / neuter WITH ear tip = $60.00

📦 Package 2:
Spay / neuter WITHOUT ear tip = $85.00

➡️ BOTH packages include vaccinations (FVRCP and rabies) + optional Revolution for treatment of flea/tick/worms.

➡️ You also have the option to have your cat MICROCHIPPED (recommended) with either of the above packages for an *additional* $25.00.

OF NOTE, COST MAY VARY IF YOUR ANIMAL KEEDS ADDITIONAL TREATMENT (IE: ANTIBIOTICS, FLUIDS, ETC…).

She is VERY affectionate and wants ENDLESS pets and kisses. While she doesn’t love being carried around (tolerates it) she will rub all over you and flip over for pets. Iris MUST have your full attention. 😻 This woman LOVES treats and play time. Oh, and have you seen her WHISKERS?! No one has better whiskers.

Iris loves humans but is a mean girl to other cats so she DOES need to be the only cat in the family. We are told she previously lived with small dogs - but have not seen her interact with a dog ourselves.

Please message us if you would like to meet her in consideration of adoption.
