Through community donations we are able to provide high quality care and rehabilitation. CARA 609 E 5th St Tilton, IL 61833 is a 501(c)3 non-for-profit, No Kill animal shelter and rescue for homeless, injured/neglect. We do require a preapproved application before setting up an appointment to meet cats/kittens. Please call 217-655-4353 with any questions. We are open Tuesday through Saturday 1-4pm

and other times by appointment. This is a great time to drop off donations and pick up or drop off an application. Please call ahead if making a drive to be sure it isn't a spay/neuter day or that we aren't out of the shelter on an errand. We have lots of kittens up to senior cats so please let us know what you are looking for and we will have a list of possibilities ready for you to meet. Occasionally we have a few puppies or small dogs. We are only set up to keep a few dogs, so check back often. Please note, we are an independent shelter and not an open intake shelter. We keep our pets for as long as they live or until they find homes, which keeps our shelter full. We will only be able to take in additional pets when we have adequate room for more. Madison is 10 years old and has been with us all her life. She is very friendly in her comfort zone and will be a good friend and companion. She also gets along with friendly male and female cats. Madison will need a calm home and we just ask for patience as she adjusts to a new home and a proper introduction/time to adjust to new friends. If given time she will be just as friendly and full of life that she is here at CARA. She loves treats, blankets, head scratches and time with her friends and her people. Madison will also be okay as a single cat. There is currently one other long time resident in her room, Brooke.

Shadow. He is a friendly, long haired male, 6 years old, neutered, microchipped, and updated on shots. Shadow is a little shy at first in a new environment, but let him settle in and he is a love bug. He loves to lounge, loves treats, loves to be your friend, and has the most beautiful face. He gets along with other cats and lets them go first.

Milky Way is our tuxedo boy! He is a very friendly 6 year old male, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. Once he settles in a new place he is the greeter at the door, loves to carry on a conversation, loves lounging, treats, and people. He gets along with other cats.

These two came to us as a bonded pair and we will not separate them. Brothers and buddies for life. They are looking for a calm home with lots of love to give. In exchange you will have two best friends for all their life.

ZAZZLE! We can't let him be an orphan again!

Zazzle has been part of the 6 pack! They started out as a five pack until one tiny orphan came in crying and crying. He was put in with this mom and five pack and was accepted immediately, feeling all the love. He's been one happy boy since. He's very friendly, snuggly, playful, and we are looking for his forever family.

We highly recommend kittens in pairs as they play together, sleep together, wrestle, and snuggle together. Especially if you are away from the house a lot for work or school. Zazzle is a sibling with Skedaddle, Purrsnickitty, Kaboodle, Rapscallion, and Skittles. But the only other one left is Skittles. They are all full of fun, very sweet, and cute as can be.

All kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their vaccinations before adoptions are final. Zazzle is just over 3 months old.

This adorable orange baby is a female named Skittles! She is very sweet and snuggly, and also very playful. She was born 2-24-2026. She is part of a six pack litter, but there are only two left. We'd love to have her find her forever family and not stay long in the shelter.
