is seriously one heck of a find!
She was a cruelty case and was taken in as an emaciated girl. She has gained weight and muscle well over the past month and a half and we know she will continue to fill out and blossom once she gets into a real home.
She absolutely adores all humans. She currently would do best in a home with kids over 8 as she is quite enthusiastic and might be too much for a house with little kids in it all the time. She is very good with other dogs, was even kenneled with a chihuahua while in shelter as they were overfilled. She is 1-2 yrs old and around 32 lbs at this point. She isn’t very big, maybe 15 inches tall at shoulder. Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative.
Currently located in Warrenton, VA but can be transferred for an approved application.

When looking for small dogs, it’s important not to miss the “smediums”. These are small dogs that due to body type just weight a bit more than their similar sized friends.
Diamond and Coco are a few examples.
Coco is Beans mom and while Bean was 25 lbs Coco is just a little bulkier at 28.
Diamond is a similar sized dog who is very heavy in muscle and scales closer to 35 lbs.
Coco and Diamond are in Virginia and available for adoption.

Noel has to be one of the most classic looking Labs we’ve had in a long time. She is 2-3 yrs old 55 lbs but it’s a thick build, she is very classic lab type in body and hair coat. She also loves the water, even in January, in Virginia.
She walks very well on a leash, rides well in the truck and hasn’t exhibited any barking or digging behavior. She seems to be a pretty happy go lucky kinda girl, and seems confident that every day is the best day ever.
Housebroken and was polite when meeting the cat.
Spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is heartworm positive and the rescue will cover cost of treatment.

Zita is a 3 yr old 3 legged black lab mixed with perfection.
Weighing around 45 lbs she is fully vetted, heartworm negative and ready to go.
She has been fostered since Thanksgiving with a trainer in Louisiana and is very dog friendly as well as having all the basics covered. Housebroken, rides well in truck (and has no trouble jumping in) she tested fine with a cat and was living with cats in her foster home she is seriously the sweetest thing and just wants loving.
Don’t let her missing leg cause you to miss out on this special girl.

Zeke
Zeke was recently taken in by another rescue but an emergency left him needing a spot ASAP and we were happy to assist.
He will be neutered on 1/6 and ready to go home on 1/9.
Because he did have a home we know a bit more about him than we normally do about our dogs.
He was born 6/2025 and is said to be a Dachshund and Yorkie mix. He is currently around 17 lbs so adopters should plan on him being a solid 20 lbs or more when grown. He was raised with kids and cats but unfortunately with small 2 kids and a 3rd on the way he was just too much for his owner to deal with.
He reminds us of another Yorkie mix we had a few years ago. He is quite cocky and sure of himself, very smart and will turn out to be a ton of fun for the right home.
He crates well and has been super on his house manners, he is certainly too young to leave loose unattended but not far from that. Walks fairly well on a leash but will pull when something smells interesting. Will do best in a home either as an only dog or with a dog his size (or larger) and playful. He is a tank and can be to rough for older or smaller dogs. We were told he wasn’t aggressive to the cats but did try to play, same with the toddlers. Given his age we would ideally like kids to be older than 8 yrs.

Starting the new year off with an update on Reevah who was one of our longest fosters. She went on trial right before Christmas and has been doing wonderful in her new home. They have finalized her adoption today.
She is now known as Evie and we are so excited for her future!

Hail Mary Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit Animal Rescue. "TOGETHER WE MAKE IT BETTER!" It’s not just a saying, it’s our creed and philosophy. We save dogs from animal shelters, have them fully vetted and find excellent homes. We assist in getting medical help to dogs brought injured into area shelters. We temporarily hold shelter pets awaiting transport to other areas, assist with transport costs, donate to other rescues faced with vet costs, and provide pet food to local human food banks. Hail Mary Rescue cannot take owner surrendered/strays. HMR is run by a board of directors with over 60 years of combined animal rescue experience.

Donations are always welcomed as this ensures we can continue our mission. "Moving Heaven and Earth to Improve the Lives of Shelter Animals.
