TVH couldn’t be more thankful for the people in this picture. Without them we would most likely fall apart. Everyday each one of them comes in with a smile on their face ready for what the day throws at us! These people here are who are getting your pet ready to go home from boarding, taking blood samples for test, doing physical exams, taking in emergencies, etc and they do it all for your pets! We are beyond grateful to have a group of people like this to give your pets the best care possible!❤️

We love seeing sweet pets get new homes! This is Luna Ray, who chose her new home recently. During her visit today, she cuddled with Maddy and enjoyed all kinds of pets. We look forward to see her for future visits! ❤️

We had a special guest at the clinic today! We LOVE our referral hospitals! This baby is owned by Olivia Autrey, LVT at Banfield in Mobile. He was diagnosed with a heart murmur, and needed an echocardiogram done. It was a pleasure to work with our referral hospital to help with the health of this fur baby named Falkor !

‼️The importance of heartworm prevention‼️
Heartworms are transmitted through mosquito bites. They pick up heartworm larvae, known as microfilaria, from infected animals. When they bite a new animal they transfer the larvae to that animals blood stream. Then the larvae travel to the heart and grow into adult heartworms. As they grow and continue to populate, it can cause severe damage to the heart and lungs. If your pet were to have a severe case you would notice —- Heartworm disease symptoms include——coughing, lethargy, trouble breathing, decreased appetite, and a very advanced case would lead to heart failure.
Thankfully there are easy ways to prevent heartworms! 😄 Using products like Sentinel Spectrum or proheart can protect your pet against them, and save you from the stress of putting them through treatment. Sentinel Spectrum is a chewable tablet that you give your pet once a month. Proheart is an injection that your veterinarian gives every 6 to 12 months, depending on which option you choose.
It’s recommended to keep your pet on heartworm prevention year round.
Test your pets regularly for heartworms, especially if you live in an area where heartworms are common (every 6-12 months)
Keep your pets’ yard free of standing water, where mosquitoes breed
