🌟For months a group of 36 veterinary acupuncturists across the USA have been working hard at the initial steps for seeking board certification within the AVMA ABVS, forming the American Board of Veterinary Acupuncture (ABVA)!🌟

🎉 In April the letter of intent was ACCEPTED by the ABVS!!! 🎉

The next step is a call for public comments by the ABVS. This is where the ABVS asks the public (veterinarians, pet owners, anyone with a POSITIVE experience with acupuncture) for comment on veterinary acupuncture and why it should be made a board specialty.

Sorry for the long post, but Dr. Mitchell promised everyone some exciting news regarding the future of Veterinary Acupuncture. And how everyone, including clients and colleagues can help. So we wanted to catch everyone up to speed and share the news with everyone

Dr. Mitchell writes:

“Well I am finally able to share this amazing news.

For the last several months I have been humbled and honored to be one of 34 veterinarians from across the country serving on the organizing committee of the newly formed American Board of Veterinary Acupuncture (ABVA). The purpose of this organization is to be a collaborative and collective voice for traditional (Eastern philosophy ) and evidence based acupuncture (Western philosophy ) showcasing the amazing medical benefits and promoting future study with a unified position on the validity of acupuncture in the veterinary field.

To this end the ABVA potitioned the American Veterinary Medical Association ( AVMA), which is the equivalent to the American Medical Association ( AMA) in human medicine, to have acupuncture recognized as a board specialty. In other words, just like in human and veterinary medicine their are internal medicine specialists or surgeons or ophthalmologist or radiologist, all of which have advanced training and are specialized in their field, if fully accepted acupuncture would then fall into that category as a recognized veterinary specialty”

This is an amazing opportunity for acupuncture and the future of integrative veterinary medicine.

As most of you know Dr Mitchell is a general practitioner who wanted more for his clients and their pets. This led Dr Mitchell to look into more holistic and all natural approachs. He loves the knowledge he has gained from the study of holistic medicine, especially TCVM. Since becoming certified in Veterinary Acupuncture he has used it on many pets and has seen amazing results with its use.

Well, we have some very exciting news regarding the future state of Veterinary acupuncture.

In the near future we will release the full details of this exciting news including how family, friends, colleagues, and clients can help shape the future of Veterinary acupuncture

Back in the office ! Doc had an amazing time teaching other veterinarians from the US on Friday and Saturday as well as learning from others. Blessed to be part of an amazing group of professionals that understand and support acupuncture for pets.

We know it was only 1 day out of the office but do appreciate our clients understanding how passionate Doc is about teaching. He was able to acquire a few for his state required education hours at this conference as well.

On Friday afternoon, we proudly introduced a new analyzer to our in-house laboratory! Dr. Mitchell and Maggie completed a training course on the IDEXX inVue Dx Cellular Analyzer.

So why are we soooo excited ? What makes this equipment so special ? It provides real-time analysis of cytologies and blood morphology, delivering results with reference laboratory-level accuracy in about 10 minutes or less.

This machine continuously learns and will receive regular updates. Currently, it specializes in blood morphology and ear cytologies. We are excited about other updates that will be coming out in the next year but we cant talk about those yet !

We are extremely excited to be the first clinic in Mobile and 4th in our regional area to have this cutting-edge analyzer!
