🐱 June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month

This month, we celebrate the countless shelter cats waiting for a loving home. Adopting a cat not only changes their life but can also enrich yours with companionship, comfort, and plenty of purrs.

Shelter cats come in all ages, personalities, and activity levels, making it possible to find the perfect fit for your family and lifestyle. When you adopt, you're giving a deserving pet a second chance while helping local shelters continue their important work.

Once you've welcomed your new feline friend home, regular veterinary care, proper nutrition, and preventive health care will help them live a long and healthy life.

Have you adopted a shelter cat? Share their story or a photo in the comments. We'd love to meet them!

Say hello to Maurice!

This adorable 10-week-old pup visited North Bay Animal Hospital for his puppy appointment, and he stole all our hearts.

Early vet visits help puppies build confidence and create positive experiences at the hospital. Puppyhood is full of important milestones, including vaccines, deworming, nutrition guidance, and growth monitoring. Routine wellness visits allow us to track development, answer questions, and help protect puppies from preventable illnesses as they grow, so starting care early is key to supporting a healthy future!

We loved meeting Maurice and cannot wait to watch him grow!

Drop a comment to welcome Maurice to the North Bay family and learn more about our puppy care services at https://www.tampabayvets.net/location/north-bay/

Did you know that just one mosquito bite can put your pet at risk for heartworm disease? 🦟 Heartworms are transmitted through infected mosquito bites, allowing microscopic larvae to enter your pet’s bloodstream and grow into dangerous, life-threatening worms affecting the heart and lungs.

While dogs have treatment options available, cats are a different story. There is currently no safe, approved treatment to eliminate heartworms in cats, making prevention absolutely critical. Even a small number of worms can cause severe lung disease, sudden collapse, or even death in our feline friends.

And it’s not just heartworms. Fleas and ticks can cause skin infections, transmit diseases, and make your pet miserable. Indoor pets aren’t immune either! These parasites can hitch a ride into your home on clothing, other pets, or through tiny openings.

✨ The good news? Prevention is simple, safe, and far more affordable than treatment.

By keeping your pet on year-round flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, you’re giving them the protection they need to live a long, healthy, itch-free life.

Talk to your veterinarian today about the best preventative plan for your pet. Because when it comes to parasites, it’s always better to prevent than to treat.
