Dr. Leslie Thomas, DVM Dr. Thomas is a veterinary surgeon at Blue Pearl Town N’ Country, formally Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Tampa, FL.

Dr. Thomas received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Stetson University in 2000, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She received her DVM degree from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville in 2005. Dr. Thomas pursued post-graduate training and study in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care with an internship at the prestigious Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston,

MA in 2006. Following her year in Boston, she completed a surgical internship with Veterinary Surgical Services in 2007. Dr. Thomas completed her small animal surgery residency at Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Annapolis and Towson, MD in 2011. There she was mentored by nine ACVS (American College of Veterinary Surgeons) Diplomate Surgeons and acquired invaluable and varied perspectives on surgical techniques and outcomes. Dr. Thomas performed experimental research on an absorbable, surgically implantable antibiotic delivery system to treat resistant local infections. She has publications in the Veterinary Surgery journal and The Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Thomas has also helped to teach other veterinarians surgical techniques at the CVC convention in Baltimore, MD and has given a presentation at the Veterinary Orthopedic Society conference. Dr. Thomas received her ACVS Board certification in 2012. She is proficient with a wide variety of soft tissue, neurologic, and orthopedic procedures. She has a special interest in oncologic (cancer) and reconstructive surgery, Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomies (TPLOs), intervertebral disc disease, and abdominal surgery.
