So we threw out some subtle hints not too far in the past. But we are rolling on construction this weekend. Which means it's time to announce that our new cat boarding area will be open for business by the end of July. Possibly sooner, but definitely by the end of July. We will also be adding cat grooming by the end of the summer. If you have seen our business, you might have some questions about how we are doing this. And I'm sure there are concerns about cats being in a dog's space. But if you have been here, you know that we have a large room that has never had a purpose really. We've tried a few things but nothing has really worked out. That space has its own entrance, its own bathroom, completely separate from the dog areas. Stay tuned for pictures and more updates. We are very excited!

Is adoptable Sylvie your next new best friend? She is a 5-year-old Great Pyrenees mix. We have known this dog for most of her life and have nothing but good things to say. She's an excellent guardian dog, she's sweet, she's beautiful, she can live with other dogs and possibly live with dog savvy cats that don't give her a reason to chase. She can live with older children and happily. She's not bad with young children but prefers to avoid them. She can be a little shy with new people but warms up nicely. She does require a secure environment to keep her where she's supposed to be. But that can be said for most livestock guardian breeds. Kiri has been waiting ever so long for her people. We don't understand. She's 5 years old and has never met a human that was not her next best friend. She loves everyone. Her dog skills aren't quite as good. So she should be an only dog. In fact, she should be an only pet. But she could live in a house full of humans and be perfectly content. She can be high energy but also knows how to settle. She loves walks and hikes. She really adores trips to the beach. She has learned to meet and be friends with a couple of dogs but it's very limited. Cats are definitely a no-go. We know you all love dogs here. Can you help us find the people that will love Kiri? Two years ago we started a beautiful friendship with one of our more challenging boarding guests. This is Millie. As you can see, introductions were hard. His owners were never able to hand him off to us directly. But we made arrangements for him to be able to come in without complications. And Time after Time with us, Millie found love here. And he was able to enjoy friendships with all of our dog walkers and people caring for him. Today we got the sad news that Millie lost his young life to cancer. So incredibly unfair. His owners are the best. We are absolutely heartbroken for and with them. Millie was the best boy. We are so thankful for the part we got to play in his life.

Let's talk about grooming maintenance. These pictures were taken 3 months apart. The adorable poodle cut was 3 months ago. Zero shade on her owner. Life happens. We don't judge. But this is how fast her coat went from perfect to unsalvageable. So the humane thing happened and we just restarted. If you are struggling to keep up, we are here to help. We are happy to find a trim that works for you and your lifestyle. And we will give you the tools to keep it up in between. And we are only a phone call away if you need help in between. Without the maintenance, pups end up matted and uncomfortable. A pelted coat hurts. But we can help you get them sorted out and get you on a maintenance schedule to avoid starting over again. Give us a call.

Also, we know grooming can be expensive. Call us anyways. We will figure it out.

Dog Daycare has become a popular thing for our beloved pups. But we discovered something was missing in traditional daycare and boarding places that we hoped was a niche we could fill. Our goal is to offer a home like environment for special dogs that need a little extra. Not necessarily a place to socialize with other dogs. (although there is plenty of that as well!) We offer a place where your elderly or special needs dogs can have human companionship and supervision with all of the comforts of home. We have privacy suites where dogs can have their own space but can still see and hear and be seen and heard by our volunteers. And couch and cuddle time is always available!

We offer limited medical boarding and daycare for dogs who have special requirements. We can also offer a safe environment for dogs who are not particularly dog or stranger friendly. It is generally a stress free environment for dogs with social anxiety or separation anxiety as well.
