This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

We have a new doctor that will be starting today, and you will see her visiting in rooms with Dr. Amyx during appointments!
Dr. Nicole Hutchins grew up in San Antonio, Texas and developed a passion for animal health
and welfare from an early age. She attended Texas A&M University, where she earned her
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences in 2021. She then continued her education at the
Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with her Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine degree in 2026.
Dr. Hutchins enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and is dedicated to providing
compassionate, high-quality care to her patients. She has a particular interest in preventive
medicine and shelter medicine, appreciating the opportunity to improve both individual animal
health and the well-being of larger animal populations through education, wellness care, and
community outreach.
Outside veterinary medicine, Dr. Hutchins enjoys spending time outdoors, whether that be
running local trails or exploring new hiking destinations. She also loves reading, spending time
with friends, and relaxing with her cat, Sharkbait, who keeps life entertaining both at home and
beyond the clinic.
