🚨 MISSING DOG — RUTHVEN, IOWA 🚨

Cooper has been missing since Thursday evening in Ruthven, just north of Ruthven Meat Processing.

We have had several sightings of Cooper, all have been in the same area which is hopeful. Unfortunately, we have been unsuccessful with getting him into a trap.

We now have a feeding station set up with a trail camera so we can monitor him and hopefully determine his routine and the best way to safely get him home. The most recent sighting we believe was this morning (9/1)

⚠️ PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO CATCH, APPROACH, CALL TO, OR CHASE COOPER. ⚠️

We know people want to help, but Cooper is extremely scared and will NOT go up to people — even people he may know. He will not approach other dogs either. Believe us, we have tried.

Chasing him or attempting to catch him could cause him to panic and run farther from the area, making it much more difficult to safely get him home.

👉 If you see Cooper:
• Do NOT chase or approach him
• Do NOT call or whistle for him
• Keep your distance
• Take note of exactly where and when you saw him
• If possible, get a photo/video from a distance
• Please contact his owner at 712-301-0899 OR the shelter at 712-580-2738 immediately.

Our goal is to keep Cooper calm, keep him in the area, and safely get him home.

Please SHARE this post so we can get the word out to everyone in and around Ruthven. The more eyes we have watching from a distance, the better chance we have of bringing Cooper home.

If you’re looking for a little lap dog with a big personality, Penelope is your girl! She is an 8 year old terrier mix.

Penelope, or Penny, came to us as a reported stray, but after doing some investigating, we learned that her owner had unfortunately passed away. Penny was then taken in by a family member, where she stayed for about a month. Unfortunately, the family member ultimately decided they could no longer care for her and drove to Spencer, where Penny was reported as a stray. Thankfully, Penny is now safe with us, and we’ve been able to provide her with the medical care, love, and attention she so deserves. ❤️

When Penny arrived, we discovered she had a huge hernia on her stomach that needed to be surgically removed. She also has no teeth, but don’t let that fool you — this girl is NOT letting a lack of teeth stand between her and a good meal! 😂🍗 Penny LOVES her food and isn’t shy about letting you know it!

Penny also has a stage 4 heart murmur and is on medication that she will need to continue taking long-term. Despite everything she’s been through and her medical needs, this girl is SO happy. ❤️

Penny is the definition of a lovey-dovey girl. She wants attention, loves giving kisses, and would happily spend her days sitting on your lap and snuggling with her favorite person. 🥹

And she gets along with everyone!

Penny has experienced a lot of change and loss, and now we’re hoping her next chapter can finally be her forever chapter. She deserves a family who will love her, spoil her, keep up with her medications, and give her the cozy life she deserves.

She may have no teeth. She may have a heart murmur. She may have a few extra medical needs. But what Penny DOES have is a huge heart, a happy spirit, and an endless supply of love and kisses. ❤️

Now she just needs someone to give her the forever home she’s been waiting for. 🐾💕

The weather may not have been the greatest for the farmers market Saturday, but we still had a GREAT time! ❤️

The best part? We got to get Janey and Riley out of the shelter for a couple of hours, and they absolutely loved it! 🐾

When these two weren’t busy playing with each other, they were soaking up all the attention from the humans. And let us tell you… Riley absolutely LOVED little Hattie! 🥹💕 She was so sweet with her, and we can confidently say Riley would LOVE a home with kiddos!

💗 Meet Berkley — the happiest girl who has been through WAY too much. 💗

Berkley has been through more than any dog should ever have to endure… and yet somehow, she wakes up every single day with a wiggle butt, a happy heart, and so much love to give.

Her story started in Texas, where she was dumped and was obviously a nursing mama — but no puppies were ever found. She ended up at a high-kill shelter that was completely full and was just minutes away from being euthanized simply because they didn’t have space.

Thankfully, a rescuer stepped in and pulled her to safety, bringing her to Sioux City. Thank you, Amanda Hase, for saving Berkley. ❤️

But her journey wasn’t over.

We soon discovered that Berkley was heartworm positive, and she also needed a TPLO surgery. She went through treatment, surgery, recovery, and everything that came with it.

She finished her final heartworm treatment in July and will need to be retested in April.

After everything she’s been through, you might expect Berkley to be nervous, shut down, or unsure of the world.

But that’s not Berkley.

Berkley is HAPPY. 🥰

She is truly one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet and her entire body seems to wiggle when she’s excited. She absolutely LOVES people and just wants to be around her favorite humans.

And let us tell you… this girl is a STUFFY FANATIC. 😂🧸 Give Berkley a stuffed toy and she is one happy girl! She absolutely loves her stuffies and would happily spend her day hanging out with her favorite people and playing with her toys.

Her favorite things include:
🚗 Going for car rides
☀️ Laying outside and soaking up the sunshine
❤️ Hanging out with her favorite people
🧸 Stuffed toys — ALL the stuffies!
🛒 Going to Bomgaars — because apparently she’s a shopping girl!

Because of her recent HW treatment, we’re still keeping Berkley calm until September 9th, so we haven’t officially tested her with other dogs yet. She has, however, been nose-to-nose with dogs while on leash and has shown no negative responses. Once she’s cleared, we’ll be able to learn more about how she does with canine friends.

Berkley has had people fail her. She’s been dumped, overlooked, and almost lost. But Berkley never stopped being happy. She never stopped loving people. She never stopped wiggling her butt. 🥹

Now, she deserves the part of her story we’ve all been waiting for:

A forever home. 🏡

A home where she can go on car rides, lay in the sunshine, destroy—or lovingly collect—stuffies, tag along on adventures, visit Bomgaars, and most importantly, know every single day that she is safe, loved, and finally home.

Berkley has been through enough.
