🐾 Everyone meet Ace! We recently got to meet Ace for the very first time! He came in to see one of our relief Doctors, Dr. Castro, for his first wellness exam with us, and he was such a good boy the whole visit. 💙

Ace soaked up the love from our team and made sure to grab his goodbye treats on the way out — the perfect way to end a great first visit! 🐶✨

🐶 Sweet Sampson recently stopped by to see Dr. Lyons because his ears were feeling a little itchy and ouchy. Even though ear checks aren’t always fun, he was such a trooper — and he made sure to collect his goodbye treats on the way out. 💛🐾

Sometimes those itchy ears or skin spots can mean allergies, infections, or other things that may need a little TLC. If your pet is scratching more than usual, pleaee call us to schedule an appointment we can help them feel comfy again — just like we did for Sampson! 💙

Summer Temps Are Back – Let’s Keep Pets Safe! ☀️🐾

We’re heading back into the 90s later this week with high humidity—and while we love summer sun, it can be dangerous for our pets.

🚨 Heatstroke, burned paws, and overheated cars are real threats during these extreme heat waves.

🔥 Here’s what to watch out for:
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car—even with the windows cracked. Temps climb fast and can be deadly.
👅 Watch for signs of heatstroke like heavy panting, red tongue, lethargy, and vomiting.
🐾 Test the pavement! If you can’t hold your hand there for 7 seconds, it’s too hot for your pup’s paws.

Let’s beat the heat and keep our furry friends cool, safe, and hydrated! 💧

It’s National Ice Cream Day, and we’re reminding all pet parents that human ice cream is best kept to humans. Some pets with sensitive tummies can handle a lick of plain vanilla, but it’s safest to stick to special pet ice creams or frozen treats. Like the recipe in our graphic above!

🐾 UPDATE – A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY! 🐾

In just a few short days, the outpouring of support for the Plainfield Area Humane Society has been incredible.

From the bottom of our hearts — THANK YOU to everyone who donated blankets, towels, food, bowls, kennels, cash, and more. Your kindness and generousity has made a huge impact during this heartbreaking time. 💙

📢 IMPORTANT CHANGE:
At this time, the Humane Society has asked the community to pause all physical donations as they continue work to clean and assess the damage. They currently do not have the space or manpower to store additional items. We have received hundreds of items for them already (which we will be holding for them here at the hospital) and at this time we will be asking to donate only the following:

💵 Monetary Donations

🚨 EMERGENCY HELP FOR PLAINFIELD AREA HUMANE SOCIETY🚨

Yesterday’s devastating storms and floodwaters wiped out everything at the Plainfield Humane Society. The innocent animals and the amazing people who care for them need our community now more than ever. 💔🐾

They lost everything.

They are desperately in need of donations to help rebuild.

🏥 At Plainfield Animal Hospital, we will be accepting donations starting TOMORROW, 7/15/25, to help get them back on their feet.

Items Needed:
✔️ Blankets (new or gently used)

🔥 National Pet Fire Safety Day 🔥
Today’s a great reminder to keep our furry family members safe from unexpected emergencies. Did you know over 500,000 pets are affected by house fires each year? 🏠🐾

Here’s how to help protect them:
✅ Keep candles & stovetops out of paw’s reach. Use flameless candles when you can.
✅ Secure loose wires that curious pets might chew.
✅ Place pet alert window clings so firefighters know who’s inside.
✅ Keep leashes & carriers by the door for a quick evacuation.
✅ Practice exit drills that include your pets.

A little planning could make all the difference. Let’s give our pets the best chance to stay safe! ❤️
