We're hiring at the shelter!
If you've always wanted to work with catsβ and others that love themβ now's your chance. See below for descriptions and to apply:
π± Shelter Associate: In this job, youβll have the opportunity to provide compassionate animal care and bring (and keep) cats and people together. In this role, youβll help maintain cleanliness of animal housing and other areas, monitor cats and kittens for health and behavior, assist with record-keeping, support the public with adoptions and other services, answer phones and email, schedule appointments, train and oversee volunteers, and work the reception & retail desk. We're hiring 3 shelter associates β 1 seasonal and part-time and two full-time and year-round positions.
π± Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT): This is a great opportunity if you are interested in working exclusively with cats in a nonprofit shelter medicine setting, with a strong focus on team collaboration and Fear Free handling. In our hospital, there is limited client interaction and no pressure to make sales. Instead, we will use your skills and training in surgery (anesthesia induction, intubation, high speed/high quality spay/neuter, dentistry) and in medicine (lab sample collection, radiology, exam and treatment of shelter cats). Our work is fast-paced and no two days are ever exactly the same.
CAT is focused on creating a positive, inclusive workplace and welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds. Take a look at our Workplace Culture Agreement and DEI Statement of Principle on our website to learn more.
We can't wait to hear from you! Share with your friends!

Update on 6/10 to share that these sisters were ADOPTED! Congrats to the girls and their new family on their match. We wish them all the best and look forward to updates.
π Adopt Lucy and Ethel! π
Torn between adopting an outgoing, playful cat and a sweet, quiet lap-loving snuggle cat? Look no further than sisters Ethel and Lucy.
The gray tuxy with the crunched ear (from a long-ago, healed infection) and crossed eyes (a gift of genetics) is Ethel. She's always ready for a party and loves to bunny-kick blankets, toys, and pillows when they cross her path. She's first to greet us at the door and loves to circle the room, looking for toys and indulging in catnip.
House panther Lucy is more reserved, content to explore the area before approaching to request lap-time. She enjoys snacks, ball toys, and gentle pets. Boasting a chinchilla-soft coat, Lucy will purr quietly to show how much she enjoys time snuggling in your lap while you tuck into a good book or a scary movie. Anything to get you to sit still while you share your warmth.
These 5-year-olds make a great pair for any household and look forward to meeting you. Visit the shelter today to meet these meow-morable sisters.

Together, we're saving lives and May was by far our busiest month yet! June promises to be even busier with more incoming cats and kittens looking for homes. Not to mention Kitten Palooza on June 21st.
Fun fact: You've adopted nearly 30 senior catsβ 8 years old or betterβ in 2025. Cats like Harvey, handsome orange guy on the right, who was adopted in May can have a harder time finding love. Older cats can be some of the most loving, wonderful companions. Have you adopted an 'experienced' cat?
Thank you for following, adopting, donating, fostering, volunteering, and spreading the word about our programs and adorable adoptable cats and kittens.
As we wind down our store's operations, we've been reflecting on all the over 200 cats that have been adopted from CAT Thrift Store in our 14 years of business. We've loved each of them and have enjoyed sending them home to you.
Thank you for your support, enthusiasm, donations, and love.
We're collecting stories and photos of our time here and we'd love to include your meow-mories in our history. You can leave your thoughts in the comments or email themβ and any photos of store ambassador-cats or your time volunteering or shoppingβ to to us at [email protected]

CAT cares about people!
Our Next Level training focusing on psychosocial safety, collaboration, and self-discovery in a trauma- informed setting culminated in an all-staff retreat. It was a choose-your-own-adventure, festival-style, play-based event that focused on connection and team-building. There were craft tables, a bubble-blowing station, a third-way conflict-solving station, and more. Shout-out to the Sherwood Center for the Arts for the modular space and beautiful day!

AMERICAN CATS is entertainingly deceptive: what begins as a humorous exploration into our obsession with cats β from their early history of domestication to the eccentric world of cat influencers (such as the insta-famous Nala) β becomes an urgent call to action against the harmful practices of declawing in the US. As the only country that has yet to ban declawing, veterinarian Jennifer Conrad embarks on a crusade to stop the practice once and for all. Hosted by Amy Hoggart (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee), the documentary is funny, fascinating, and presents a compelling case against this inhumane billion-dollar industry.
Upon its premiere at the Hot Docs Film Festival, the film drew attention from The Wall Street Journal, Deadline and POV Magazine. With impact screenings, we hope to bring awareness to local communities and fellow animal organizations on the destructive consequences of declawing and inspire others to take a call to action. We want to bring this film to the attention of local animal groups, organizations, pet owners and animal lovers, as our goal is to push for better legislation to pass across the US and Canada for the well being of cats.

Cat Adoption Team (CAT) is the largest cat shelter in the Pacific Northwest dedicated to finding a home for every cat we take in. With the generous support of our community, we offer adoption, foster care, and veterinary services to homeless cats and kittens.
With over 20 years of experience and more than 50,000 adoptions, we know cats! While in our care, cats and kittens have access to enrichment activities, behavior modification, medical care, and a variety of housing options to meet their individual needs.
Our doors opened on May 1, 1998, and since that time weβve remained dedicated to saving the lives of homeless felines.
CATβs staff and volunteers work tirelessly to care for and find a home for every cat and kitten we take in. Through our carefully supervised adoption program, more than 3,300 cats and kittens are adopted into loving homes each year.
At CAT, we care about cats and people. Our values guide us in the work that we do and our interactions with others.
