The weather outside is frightful, and the fire is NOT delightful.
Right now the best thing you can do for your horses is no forced exercise, provide plenty of water and refresh it frequently. Wet down hay to limit any dust intake to reduce additional respiratory irritants.
AQI levels can provide a general guideline. We consider all horses to be a "sensitive group" and recommend eliminating forced exercise at levels over 100.
Remember that even in the best of barns they are still breathing the same air as outside and it can stagnate further within a building. You can help improve circulation with fans (closed/sealed motor only).
The current situation is expected to improve in a couple days, but take caution putting horses fully back to work right away and give them extra days to recover if any excessive coughing or nasal discharge is noted.
