Hello everyone!! We are looking for thoughts, opinions, or ideas regarding parking in the lot on the bridle trails at High Cliff State Park. We are in the planning stages of trying to expand the parking lot here. Useful info includes how often you visit the park to ride, how big your trailer is and if you run into any issues with parking. Feel free to post here or send a private message regarding your experiences. Thank you for your help!

Some reading material! These are all very real concerns regarding trail use and we've even run into most of the issues at right here at High Cliff State Park. We encourage all riders to find a local horse club and join forces to help keep our trails around!

Become a strong advocate for keeping your favorite trails open for riding with these expert strategies.

Jen Kvalheim reported that trails at High Cliff are in great shape today- soft but not muddy. Thanks, Jen!

THANK YOU! To everyone that has voiced their opinions in the Recreational Opportunities Analysis (ROA) surveys put out by the DNR in the last couple of months. However, our voices are not being heard! Riders did not respond in the first pass while other user groups showed up in large numbers. If the DNR does not hear from us, we will not see new trails or improvements anytime soon. PLEASE take a few minutes before FRIDAY, MAY 4th, to provide feedback.

Please go to https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/Lands/RecAnalysis/ and scroll down to the icon that says "PROVIDE FEEDBACK" This is a quick little thing to do to ensure we trails to ride in the future. Please share and tell your friends to do the same!

The last public open house to voice your desire to keep/open more horse trails for the Lake Winnebago Waters Region will be held this Wednesday, November 1st at Fox Valley Technical College. This open house is designed to gather public comments, ideas, concerns, and perspectives on the existing recreation opportunities available in the region and future needs. It will be held from 4-7 pm in the Bordini Center at FVTC, 5 Systems Dr, Appleton, WI 54914. Please stop by and tell them how much your local horse trails mean to you!

Thank you to everyone who filled out surveys regarding our trail system and making sure it gets into the DNR master plan. For those of you that don't know, if people do not speak up and get equine activities into the master plan they can never be added or expended upon.

Results are out for the Great Northwest region. Only 134 responses were recorded, putting equines at the lowest priority. Upper Lake Michigan Coastal region had 378 responses recorded, which put equines at the second most request for this region.

This note was published from the WI State Horse Council:
WE NEED TO SPEAK UP NOW! As master plans are redone, or new land becomes available, the DNR plans to refer back to this ROA survey - and WE ARE NOT HAVING OUR VOICES HEARD, BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE NOT TAKING THE TIME TO COMPLETE A SHORT SURVEY!

The next two draft chapters are available for review and comment-Upper Lake Michigan Coastal and Great Northwest regions. Open houses for those regions will be in Depere (Oct 17) and Rice Lake (Oct 18).

Also, we announced the next three regions-Mississippi River Corridor, Western Sands, Lake Winnebago Waters. The open houses for these three regions will be combined in each of the regions, so no need to attend multiple meetings for this group of regions. Dates and locations are:
Monday, October 23rd - Altoona River Prairie Center, 1445 Front Porch Place, Altoona
Tuesday, October 24th - Holiday Inn, 1001 Amber Avenue, Stevens Point
Wednesday, October 25th - Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center, 3060 S. Kinney Coulee Road, Onalaska
Wednesday, November 1st - Fox Valley Technical College (Bordini Center), 5 Systems Drive, Appleton

Please check out the webpage that has the draft chapters and additional details.
