Summer brings unique eye challenges – dust, pollen, chlorine, and UV exposure can all irritate sensitive eyes.

Watch for excessive tearing, pawing at eyes, or squinting. Some pets benefit from protective eyewear during long outdoor adventures!

Red, swollen, or cloudy eyes need prompt veterinary attention. Schedule an exam if you've noticed changes! (203) 929-0500

Emergency preparedness includes our pets! Keep pet carriers accessible near exits, include pets in evacuation plans, and consider pet alert stickers for windows.

For apartment dwellers: know which exits allow pets during emergencies.

Most importantly — if you're safely out, don't go back for pets. Contact emergency responders instead.

Not all dogs are natural swimmers! Even water-loving breeds can struggle in pools without proper supervision.

Always watch them closely! Provide life vests for nervous swimmers, rinse off chlorine immediately, and never assume they can swim just because they're a "water breed."

Does anyone else have a dog who's cautious about puddles but loves swimming pools?

Think your dog's a natural swimmer?

Surprisingly, many aren't! Even water-loving breeds can struggle with exit points in pools.

And did you know cats can actually swim but their tolerance for water varies by breed?

Maine C***s often enjoy splashing while Siamese typically perform Olympic-level jumps to avoid droplets.
