Danielle Saggars Performance Horses

Danielle Saggars Performance Horses Horse Trainer operating out of Covered M Arena in Shawnee, Kansas. Danielle Saggars is an Ohio native who started with very humble beginnings.

As the only horseman in the family, Danielle learned at an early age how to be coachable and to take every opportunity to learn. She grew up with a strong 4-H foundation and worked her way to riding in the all around and Quarter Horse events. Danielle took every opportunity she could to work, learn, and be around horses including riding her bike down the road to clean stalls for an Arabian trainin

g facility. In high school, Danielle took advantage of the opportunity to transfer to online schooling in order to ride full time with her trainer, Judy Harrison. She worked 40 hours a week in the barn, learning, riding every horse she could sit on, and completed school work in the evenings when she returned home. Danielle purchased her first training horse in high school and used the tools she had acquired to start working with green horses to take them to the show pen. She was very active in 4-H and mentoring younger riders in her club, fostering her passion for teaching. Danielle would spend summers driving to each of their houses to give free lessons, guide families in proper care and nutrition of their animals, and training their horses. Danielle was recruited to ride on scholarship for South Dakota State University on a Division 1 NCAA Equestrian Team where she traveled and competed in both Horsemanship and Reining under the guidance of Megan (Rossiter) Johnson. Danielle completed an internship with Shane Brown Performance Horses in Elbert, Colorado to broaden her knowledge in reining and starting young horses. She completed a degree in Agricultural Science from South Dakota State University before moving to Kansas City in 2016. Upon arrival in Kansas City, Danielle worked for the American Royal Association as the Equine Event Manager where she oversaw all equine activities and shows during the fall season. Danielle resides in Kansas City with her wife, Paige, and is also the Barn Manager at Due West Ranch. She gives lessons specializing in all around, western, and beginner riders.

I still remember telling this family at one of Greyson’s very first lessons, “You all better start planning on buying a horse.”

Not because they needed one right away… but because you could already see it happening. The way the boys ran into the barn. The way mom and dad stood ringside completely invested. The way horses quickly became part of their everyday conversations, schedules, and hearts.

Now here we are. Meet Gator! 🐊 The first horse for a family with 6 boys, 3 of them in lessons, and the whole family is all in. ❤️

Watching them meet him, love on him, and proudly lead him around the barn felt like one of those moments that reminds me why I do this. It’s never just about buying a horse. It’s about the memories that come with it. The late nights at the barn. The learning. The chaos. The teamwork. The little boys growing up horse crazy together.

And if these photos are any indication… Gator has already found his people. Welcome to the barn, big guy!🐴

Cardi is feeling pretty grown up lately. ❤️
Today she got to help me pony the baby around and tag along for a trail ride.

Cardi was the first training horse I ever got my hands on as a weanling. During her younger years, her training happened on and off as she grew and matured. But over the last two years, she’s been in consistent work — and wow, she’s turned into such a cool little horse.

There’s something really special about watching her step into this role and help the next baby in the program. Helping him build confidence, trust the process, and learn that the trails aren’t so scary after all. Moments like this make all of the slow, steady work so worth it. ✨

Happy Mother’s Day to the horse show moms. 🤍

The ones making sure numbers are pinned on straight, hats are on tight, patterns are memorized, and nerves are calmed before we walk in the gate.

The ones holding horses for hours, carrying every extra thing imaginable, cheering the loudest, wiping away tears after tough classes, and celebrating every little win like it’s the biggest victory in the world.

Thank you for loving us through every emotion this sport brings — the excitement, the stress, the highs, the lows, and all the moments in between.

This life wouldn’t be possible without you. Happy Mother’s Day to the moms behind the scenes making the magic happen every single weekend. 🐴✨

Finally getting a moment to post full results from our May Golden Circle show!

We had so many kids trying brand new classes, learning new patterns, gaining confidence, and proving to themselves that they’re capable of more than they thought.

A huge highlight of the weekend was Veronica’s VERY first horse show — and she absolutely handled it like a champ. Watching riders experience their first trip through the gate never gets old. ✨

I’m so proud of this team for showing up willing to learn, support each other, and keep growing. The late nights, practice rides, nerves, laughs, and teamwork are what make these weekends so special.

Now… onto KBHA in a few weeks. 👀

Back to work, back to preparing, and back to chasing bigger goals together.

Slow isn’t a setback—it’s a strategy.

We take the time to teach every piece so our horses understand, not just react. No rushing, no skipping steps—just building confidence, clarity, and trust one ride at a time. Because when a horse truly understands the job, there are no surprises… just quiet, consistent success. ✨

The goal isn’t fast. The goal is right.

It was a successful weekend—but not just because of all of the ribbons.

It was settling the nerves with words of encouragement from teammates, the deep breaths before walking into the pen. It was riders stepping up for each other, helping with last-minute tack changes, sharing advice, and cheering just as loud for their teammates as they did for themselves.

We saw growth in every ride—new skills, new confidence, and moments where things didn’t go perfectly but lessons were learned anyway. That’s the kind of success that lasts.

So proud of this team for showing up, supporting each other, and proving that what we’re building goes far beyond the placings. 🤍

Justin might have an assistant here before we know it! Thankful for incredible farriers, vets, and vendors that take care of our animals and take a few extra moments to educate the future of agriculture. ❤️

What an incredible show day for this crew 💙

We had several first-time showmen step into the ring, and every single rider completed their patterns perfectly—not a single off pattern all day. That kind of consistency is something to be really proud of.

A big shoutout to Leah Brunner for catch riding Journey to Cash and doing an incredible job stepping in and making it look effortless.

This group continues to grow, support each other, and show up ready to work—and it shows. So proud of all of you! I can’t wait for the next one!

It’s hard to put into words just how much this group means to me.

These riders… they show up for each other. They cheer the loudest, support the hardest, and celebrate every win—big or small—like it’s their own. And that kind of love? You can’t teach it. It’s something special.

To the families behind them—thank you. Thank you for the early mornings, the long days, the trust, and the unwavering support. This program is what it is because of you.

And to these kids… your grit, your kindness, your friendships, and your love for the horses and for each other is everything.

This isn’t just a barn. It’s a family. And I’m so incredibly grateful for every single one of you 🤍🐴

Moments from around the barn lately 🤍

Not too long ago, this was just an idea—something I hoped could grow into a place where riders felt supported, challenged, and at home.

Now I look around and see a barn full of people, horses, laughter, and moments like these… and it’s more than I ever imagined.

Some of you have been here since the very beginning. Others found your way here along the journey. But each of you has played a part in shaping what this program has become.

I don’t take that lightly.

I’m so grateful for this community—for the trust, the support, and the love that fills this place every day. 🐴✨

From “we can’t quite get the lope” to ba****ck and thriving 🤍✨

Just a few months ago, Maya and Foster were working through every stride to find their rhythm… and now look at them—loping like it’s second nature, no saddle needed.

This is what consistency, patience, and trust look like. The quiet progress. The small wins that turn into big moments.

And nights like this? Absolute magic at the barn. 🌅🐴
