Congratulations to Grady Duncan on his well-deserved induction into the National Cutting Horse Association Hall of Fame!
In over 46 years in the horse business with my husband Dave, we've been blessed to meet and work with many talented horsemen across Colorado, Virginia, and Texas, and in a variety of disciplines. Yet without hesitation, I can say that Grady Duncan is truly one of the best of the best.
His accomplishments in the cutting horse industry speak for themselves, but what sets Grady apart is not just his talent, it's his character. He is one of the most honest, sincere, humble, and trustworthy people we have ever known. He leads with integrity, a strong moral compass, and a genuine love for both horses and people.
During the years we trained under Grady, I never once saw him lose his temper with a horse or treat one unfairly. Every decision, every ride, every correction was made with the goal of helping the horse understand, improve, and become the best version of itself. That kind of horsemanship cannot be taught from a book. It comes from patience, wisdom, respect, and a lifetime of dedication to the horse.
Every horse we brought to Grady came home better because of him. Not only were they better trained, they were more confident, more willing, and more prepared for success. That's the mark of a true horseman.
But beyond the arena, Grady is an even better man than he is a trainer. He has impacted our lives in ways he may never fully realize. He set a standard of professionalism, integrity, horsemanship, and kindness that few will ever reach. Quite honestly, no one who came after him was ever able to live up to the expectations he created, because he was simply that exceptional.
Grady, we love you. We are incredibly proud to call you our friend, mentor, and horseman. This Hall of Fame honor is richly deserved, and while it recognizes your achievements, those of us who know you best recognize something even greater - the quality of the man behind them.
Thank you for every lesson, every horse made better, every life touched, and for showing all of us what true horsemanship really looks like.
Congratulations, Hall of Famer. You earned every bit of it.
