Hope everyone is having a great Monday! We had a great flower subscription kickoff this weekend, and it was wonderful to meet everyone who came to pick up their bouquets at Pikes Peak Lemonade in Leesburg and Blackwood Manor Farms in Lovettsville.

However, we still have one or two bouquets from customers who did not pick up. We want to make sure every handmade bouquet gets delivered into the hands of the people they are made for, so if you have not picked up yours, please come get it! We have one wildflower bouquet and fantasy bouquet still waiting for their person.

And please remember to check your email! It is easy to miss updates if they have landed in spam, so make sure to check our page as well for updates.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! Our bouquets this weekend had some wonderful-smelling daffodils and apple blossoms, and the scent filled up our whole house while we were putting together bouquets. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

It is a beautiful day today! For our flower subscribers, today is the last day to pick up your bouquet this week. Our stand is open for pickup until 5 pm, so if you have not picked up your bouquet, please come on over and get your share of apple blossoms and daffodils! 🌼

Hello! The stand is set up outside Pikes Peak Lemonade for our flower subscribers, and we will be open for farm pickup tomorrow for remaining subscribers.

If you have not done so yet, please fill out the form for your prepared location! Please check your inbox in case any Blackwood Manor Farms emails have gone to spam. Subscribers who have not chosen their location yet can pick up their bouquet tomorrow during farm pickup, with preferred options open again next week!

Starting in April, Pikes Peak Lemonade will be our new Leesburg pickup location for our CSA flower subscriptions. We are super excited, and we can’t wait to work with them!! Pikes Peak Lemonade will be in downtown Leesburg, in the cabin at Market Station by Tuskie’s. For those of us who fear downtown Leesburg’s parking — Pikes Peak Lemonade does have a parking lot nearby that is directly accessible. They are a lemonade tap room offering some amazing lemonades, “dirty lemonades”, homemade root beer (and even a cocoa bar). I can’t think of a better place to kick off the spring and summer with our bouquets! 🥰

Baby seedlings are going out this week! Lochlann approves 😇

It has been a rough month with the tornado watch, the drop in cold weather, and the storms. Our seedlings have been in and out of the house all month (so many trays, so many trips). 🫤 But they’ve survived!

We are so ready for spring.

It feels really hard to believe that the sun was ever a thing now that we’ve been in winter for seven months. And yet, these photos are from April of last year. Proof spring existed! My gloves, sitting next to that vase of daffodils, are now toast after the winter we’ve had. RIP.

And yet, spring IS coming. And daffodils. I CANNOT wait. I never used to be a fan of daffodils until I started growing them. They’re the best warm greeting for spring you’ve ever had, and there are sooo many varieties. Buttery yellow petals, the best scented flowers you’ve ever smelled…I miss them. And anemone flowers - bottom right - are such a riot of colors they seem almost magical.

Just one month left, everyone. We can do it.

As a reminder to anyone following us because they miss spring (and are crying internally), we have flower bouquet subscriptions open for April. You pick up a flower bouquet from our farm (or one of our other pickup locations) each week for a month. We have one main subscription. Our second flower subscription is for fairytale and book lovers: each bouquet is themed to a different myth/fairytale.

Just a couple more months until we have our flowers! The daffodils and grape hyacinth are beginning to peek out of the ground, and our ranunculus flowers (and peonies) will follow right after. Our indoor snapdragon trays are looking amazing! Now that we have a beautiful week with gorgeous weather coming up, I think it may be time for some of our seedling babies to graduate to the outdoors. So proud 😭

We’re super excited that it’s almost spring over here! I used to love winter and hate spring for its rainy season, until I started growing flowers. Now I’m just relieved when spring comes around again — it means we get our gorgeous flowers back. 🥰

The snow has melted!! (And more snow is forecast this weekend. 😑) It’s been impossible to get to any of the tunnel beds under the snow, so I’ve been patiently watching it melt for the past few weeks while…starting seeds indoors! It is starting to look like a greenhouse in the basement!

It’s a relief to finally get started on the growing season. It’s always magical to watch a tray of tiny seedlings grow into a full-blown flower bed.

Winter is gorgeous in the Blue Ridge, but we miss the growing season! And the color green…

Our bouquet subscriptions (also known as a CSA) are available for purchase now. It really helps us prepare for the growing season if you buy a subscription from us. Flowers are beautiful, PERISHABLE products, so selling them ahead of time means less flower bouquets end up without a home. Some of our unsold bouquets end up in the dumpster, while some of them end up back in a vase on the farm. Which is nice, but it’s always hard to pull off carefully wrapped bouquet paper and ribbon that you were hoping would go to cheering someone else up. Each of our bouquets are individually made, and I tend to imagine the person each one will go to in my head when I’m designing it.

Our flower subscriptions start in April, and somehow that’s… basically tomorrow. I am super excited for spring (and sun!), but we’re also gearing up for the start of a busy season 😅 So. Many. Seedling trays.

And we are open for flower subscriptions!! Sooo if you’ve been thinking about joining us this season, here’s the scoop:

🌷 What is a flower subscription (aka CSA)? A flower subscription is one of the sweetest ways to support your local farm (that’s us!). When you sign up, you receive one fresh bouquet each week for a month. Bouquets are picked up on a set day each week at our farm or nearby pickup locations. The start date of the flower subscription may vary by a week or two based on weather patterns. We’ll send an email out when the flowers have started blooming, and the subscription kicks off!

🌷 Can I pause my subscription if I go on vacation? Yes. Just DM us and I will pause your subscription until you come back, at which point you will get a bouquet for each week of your remaining time.

🌷 Why do I need flowers? Flowers are like coffee. They make mornings just a liiitle better.

🌷 How are your flowers different from the bouquets in the store? Store bouquets have flower varieties which are bred to ship well. They’re durable. They usually have no scent, either. They may have toxic pesticides, or they may be dyed for color. Our flowers are harvested the same day (or night before), and they don’t travel far. This means we get to grow old-fashioned flowers that smell AMAZING, and don’t need to survive a storage truck. We also grow organic. (We have pets, so we dont use toxic chemicals on our farm.)

Hi everyone! It’s been snowing. It’s been snowing a lot. Whether you’re still stuck inside or you’ve managed to find freedom via snow plow, Blackwood Manor Farms has a 25% discount on our bouquet subscriptions for those dearly needing to cling onto the hope that summer will come again.

We have a bouquet subscription and a fantasy bouquet subscription (booktok girlies stop here) to choose from. For each subscription, you get to pick up a bouquet from our farm each week in Lovettsville. These are bigger than market bouquets. The subscription starts in April.
