šŸ¾ Happy National Pit Bull Awareness Day! šŸ¾

Celebrated every year on the last Saturday of October (Oct 25 this year), this day reminds us that pit bulls arenā€™t the ā€œdangerousā€ dogs theyā€™re often made out to be.

Originally bred in 18th-century England from bulldogs and terriers, these dogs were known for their strength and their gentle, loyal nature. For decades, pit bulls were trusted family companionsā€”nicknamed ā€œnanny dogsā€ for how affectionate and protective they were.

Sadly, human misuse and negative media have fueled unfair stereotypes. Today, we celebrate pitties for who they really are: loving, goofy, loyal members of the family. šŸ’™šŸ¶

Love Is Blind season 8 meets Dog Day Out... and we're ready to say, "I do!"

Thanks to VCA Charities' amazing partners at Minneapolis Animal Care & Control, in collaboration with their Dog Day Out initiative, we are grateful for the success of the Fido Field Trip Program! Back in the Spring, the shelter dogs got their own ā€œLove is Blindā€ adventure when the fabulous ladies of Season 8 joined the fun, taking some shelter pups out for unforgettable field trips filled with smiles.

Did you know that research shows that dogs who experience a single day outside the shelter are 10x more likely to be adopted?! These outings give shelter dogs a break from the kennel, which reduces stress while increasing community volunteerism.

Now through January 31, all donations made to VCA Charities at VCA Animal Hospitals throughout California will support disaster relief efforts, including support for pets impacted by the current devasting fires in the Los Angeles area. VCA Animal Hospitals is proud to support VCA Charities, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in their disaster relief efforts. Every dollar helps local animal welfare organizations shelter, transport and care for pets through grants that fund veterinary care, medication, food, and supplies.

Donations can be made at any VCA Animal Hospitals or visit VCACharities.org to donate online.
