✨ Meet Milly ✨
Milly is a 13-year-old Golden Retriever who came to us with severe left hind-limb lameness. Her ankle was thickened, stiff, and very painful, and advanced imaging showed severe arthritis in the joint.

Because her arthritis was so advanced (see the pre-op CT and x-rays) , most traditional treatments were unlikely to provide real relief. That made Milly an excellent candidate for a total ankle replacement — and that’s exactly what she received! 🦴✨

📸 Just look at Milly 8 weeks after surgery! She’s already walking with no obvious limp in her left rear leg (the mild right front limp you may notice is from elbow arthritis). Based on our experience, she should continue to gain strength and comfort in that leg for up to 6 months after surgery.
💡 Many pet owners — and even veterinarians — aren’t aware that total ankle replacement can be a great alternative to joint fusion for dogs with severe ankle arthritis and pain. For the right patient, it can be truly life-changing.

🐾 Meet Maverick — an adorable, goofy 4-month-old Labrador retriever who took a tumble off the bed and broke his femur! 💔

His fracture was repaired using a minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) technique and just 4 weeks later, his femur is completely healed! 🙌 He’s walking beautifully and ready to get back to his normal puppy antics (both he and his mom are thrilled about that 🐶💃).

So how did Maverick heal so fast?
✨ 1. The minimally invasive repair preserved vital blood supply and natural healing factors at the fracture site, speeding up bone healing.
✨ 2. He’s a young, healthy puppy, and puppies are born to bounce back!

This sweet 10-year-old Shepherd came to us from UC Davis after struggling with long-term lameness in her right hind leg.

Marie had already undergone two knee surgeries, but her limp persisted. She then presented to the UC Davis orthopedic team who performed arthroscopy and discovered that her knee had lost all its cartilage, meaning bone was rubbing on bone. Ouch! 😢

Marie was then referred to our surgery team at Omega Veterinary Group for a total knee replacement, and we’re thrilled to share that her surgery went beautifully! 🙌

🎥 Here she is post-op—already moving comfortably and showing off her new knee!
Sending all our love and healing vibes to this brave girl for a full, happy recovery! 💕🐕

Dr. Porcher joins us as a surgical intern for the upcoming year, bringing her passion for surgery and learning as she continues her journey to become a surgeon. Dr. Porcher earned both her B.S. in Food Animal Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida — which means we’re thrilled to welcome another Gator to the Bay Area! 🐊🌉

She recently completed a small animal rotating internship at The Ohio State University, where she spent focused time in soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, and surgical oncology.

✨ Crow’s Comeback: Healing Strong with Minimally Invasive Surgery ✨

Meet Crow, a curious kitty whose outdoor adventure ended with both sacroiliac (SI) joints luxated and a prepubic tendon avulsion. A serious injury for such a small kitten… but this cat had something powerful on his side: minimally invasive fracture repair.

With the help of advanced imaging and surgical techniques, our team was able to stabilize his pelvis through small incisions, minimizing tissue trauma and helping him bounce back faster than typical approaches. 💪🐾
