I may have earned Mama Sassafras’s trust but Miss Arya is still a work in progress. I had already tossed her a few macaroni noodles before this interaction. Her speed approaching me increased after this but the skeptical eyes never went away. Arya LOVES other dogs and benefits from having a doggie friend show her the ropes but my crew was already in bed here lol

Eyeballs are open and they are starting to move around. Had to relocate them from the box in the cat stand that mama put them in to the playpen because they are getting too big - 3 of them rolled out last night! We’ll see if mama leaves them with their new space or if she moves everyone back

Miss. Arya had a good first night. In fact she was still sleeping when I went in this morning to clean her kennel and feed her. She ate breakfast and did her business and now she’s back to taking a nap.

I like to give my shy fosters a few days to decompress and feel safe in their new environment before I start working with them. Arya is curious about me when I am at a distance but any time I stepped closer (to set down food, refill water, pick up 💩,etc) she quickly backs up. But I think that she’ll warm up quickly once she adjusts to her new space 💜

Oh and meet Arya!! About an hour after dropping off the kittens, Jamie sent me this little girl and said she was another shy pup like Donny (Donkey) and Biscuit (Swimming). Of course I said yes because helping shy puppies gain confidence is one of Gene and I’s best skills. He’s already planning to get her tacos tomorrow and I have her set up in the foster room with classical music, toys and snacks.
