Pets can get heatstroke faster than most owners realize.

Heavy panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, bright red gums, or collapse can all be signs of overheating. Brachycephalic breeds like Bulldogs and Pugs are especially at risk during hot Texas weather.

Heatstroke is a medical emergency.

Always provide shade, fresh water, and avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat.

If the pavement is too hot for your hand for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your pet’s feet. Early morning and late evening walks are the safest option during extreme heat.

Quick tip: Grass is usually much cooler than concrete or asphalt.
