Effective immediately we will no longer be accepting requests from third party pharmacies which include Chewy, 1-800 PetMeds, Amazon, etc.. (This does not include prescription compounds)

We understand that cost and convenience are the two primary reasons that our clients purchase from outside pharmacies and online retailers. That’s why Salisbury Animal Hospital has partnered with Covetrus to offer an online pharmacy option that offers the same pricing structure and shipping options any other major online pharmacy. Because our online pharmacy is part of our clinic infrastructure, you will not need a written prescription if you order this way. Our hospital and online store’s supply chain is 100% secure, and from the time the medication you order is manufactured all the way to when you are going to give it to your pet, it has been handled and stored, and packed in compliance with manufacture guidelines.

If you choose to use a third-party pharmacy, we will provide you with a written prescription within 48 hours that can be submitted to the pharmacy of your choice. The written prescription(s) can be picked up from our hospital.

Third-party pharmacy request are taking time away from patient care. Online pharmacies send us numerous requests daily to approve a prescription and they often send it multiple times daily via fax, email, and sometimes even phone calls. Many online pharmacies will request refills from us when the owner has not. All of this requires more staff time reviewing patient charts and less time treating out patients. I think we’re all looking forward to that forecast on Sunday! Here’s some pet pool safety tips to keep in mind for this weekend 👇

🏝️Undiluted pool chemicals can cause ulcers in the mouth, throat and esophagus. 👀Watch for-drooling, oral sores, mouth pain, vomiting, not eating and bloody vomit/stool

🌊Sunscreens and bug spray can me harmful if ingested or applied topically. 👀Watch for- GI upset, drooling, weakness or difficulty walking, allergic reaction, vomiting and diarrhea

⛱️Salt water pools can cause saltwater poisoning if an excessive amount is ingested. 👀Watch for- Extreme thirst, vomiting, dehydration, impaired balance or coordination, tremors and seizures

🐚Chlorinated pool water can be harmful to pets if ingested. 👀Watch for-mild vomiting and diarrhea
