Unexpected Climbers: What’s Making Your Bush Beans Grow Like Pole Beans

All bush beans were derived from pole beans. They will sometimes revert back to their genetic heritage and exhibit the pole characteristics. Some factors that seem to encourage that are limited sunlight - beans need 6-8 hours of sunlight and if they are too shaded, they will naturally reach for the light thus vining more than normal. Excessive nitrogen in the ground will also encourage plants to have excessive growth as well as overwatering either natural rainfall or irrigation can produce the same results.
