Jared Penley and his wife, Cara, operate Penley Horsemanship out of their training facility in Salem, Ohio. Jared is a performance horse trainer for the sport of Cowboy Mounted Shooting and
has a passion for training young horses. He specializes in starting and foundational work, sells quality horses, and is a clinician and coach of horsemanship and mounted shooting.
Jared competes at the highest level in Cowboy Mounted Shooting as an Open Level 6 shooter. Recent accomplishments include Jared's Reserve Champion finish at the 2023 National Open CMSA Futurity.
Additionally, Jared is the president of the CMSA Futurity, Derby, and Stallion Incentive Program. Jared fell in love with the sport of Cowboy Mounted Shooting as the sport requires well-trained performance horses and a rider with horsemanship skills to excel.

Hot 🥵 but amazing weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Lumberton, NC!

Jared rode 4 horses this weekend🔥

1️⃣Cutters Chrome Cat (Chrome), owned by Amy Pierce and Tim Tipton, 6 year old AQHA gelding in the main match

2️⃣Heza Sneakin Cat (Maverick✈️), owned by Chris Himes, 5 year old AQHA gelding in the 5 and 6 year old Derby

3️⃣Benjamin Buford Blye (Josie), owned by Melissa Shaner, 4 year old AQHA gelding in the Futurity

4️⃣Gonna Impeachya (Peaches🍑), owned by Angel Stables, 4 year old APHA mare in the Futurity

The main match was electrifying with the Level 6 shooters battling for a place in the Top 10 right through the 5th stage.

⚡Jared and Chrome finished 2nd Overall and Reserve Cowboy and placed 2nd in the 4/5 Stage AAA Jackpot!

⚡Cara and Duce🚀 finished 8th Overall hitting the Top 10 and 2nd in the Ladies 4/5 Stage AAA Jackpot!

The Mid-Atlantic Regional was the 3rd and final shoot in the Genesis Futurity and Derby Series.

⚡Jared and Maverick✈️ placed first this weekend at the 3rd series shoot and won the combined point total for the series taking home a beautiful trophy saddle😍

⚡Jared and Peaches🍑 placed 2nd at the 3rd series shoot

⚡Jared and Josie placed 5th at the 3rd series shoot

Fun weekend with the Lake Erie Vaqueros!

Congratulations 🎉 to Melisa and her Arabian Zee Michael Angelo (Mick🦈) on their first Overall Overall win as a team! This will be the first of many to come!

The weekend was focused on our CMSA Futurity horses. We loaded up all 4 and had a great weekend!

Jared and Gonna Impeachya (Peaches 🍑), owned by Angel Stables, took the Overall Cowboy spot on Saturday.

Cara and Benjamin Buford Blye (Josie), owned by Melissa Faye, won Reserve Cowgirl on Sunday and were clean on the day💥

Great feeling to watch our futurity horses and team meet success☺️
