It has been a wild week of weather here in Oregon. Major flooding, evacuations, and power outages have been occurring across the region. Today is our 3rd day without power this week.

We are CLOSED today until further notice as both Lardon Road and Silverton Road remain closed due to downed power lines.

We're greatful for all the power crews working to restore power today and hope to open as soon as possible.

We have been having a great time at the Oregon State Beekeepers Association Beekeeping Conference this weekend. The honey show was a huge hit this year with more than 50 entries, pics coming soon! We love meeting beekeepers from around the Pacific Northwest, listening to the speakers, and being surrounded by such a passionate and supportive group of beekeeepers. 🐝

Honey has a wide spectrum of colors, from almost colorless to very dark brown. The USDA recognizes seven standard color categories for classifying honey (see below). The color of honey is determined by the botanical source of the nectar and the plant pigments present, such as carotenoids and flavonoids.

Honey color is not an indication of quality. Dark honeys can be just as tasty and flavorful, even more so than light honeys at times.
