is a serious and potentially deadly disease that affects dogs. It is caused by a parasitic type of roundworm, which is spread by infected mosquitoes 🦟 and lives in the heart ❤ and lungs of infected dogs. If left untreated, it can cause permanent damage to the heart and lungs, leading to fatal heart failure. If your dog isn’t currently on year-round parasite prevention, it’s essential that they be tested for heartworm ASAP. 🔬
