MN Pocket Pet Rescue

MN Pocket Pet Rescue MNPPR is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 2014 committed to the rescue & adoption of Pocket Pets.

OUR MISSION
MN Pocket Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization primarily serving the Twin Cities Metro Area, focusing on education and public outreach. Our intent is to keep all animals in their homes, with their families, whenever possible. We are committed to rescuing those pocket pets that are in jeopardy of being euthanized or are in danger of being abused, left unattended, or in other types of

vulnerable situations. We ensure all animals receive proper veterinary care, medication, and special training for any behavioral issues, as well as to arrange safe, temporary homes for these animals until stable forever homes can be found. Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and the general public.

🚨 Emergency Intake 🚨
MN Pocket Pet Rescue has just taken in 8 rabbits from a heartbreaking dumping case in Mankato, MN. All 8 are suffering from life-threatening botfly larvae buried under their skin. Each larva must be removed by a veterinarian, and several buns already show signs of infection.

On top of urgent care, they will need spays/neuters, RHDV2 vaccines, and microchips before we can list them for adoption and find them their forever homes.

We must raise $9,000+ immediately to cover these costs. This is one of our largest fundraising needs to-date. Please donate if you can. Any amount helps. And if you aren't in a place to donate, please forward this post to friends and family.

URGENT, PLEASE SHARE!

Alongside several of our fellow local rescues, MN Pocket Pet Rescue has committed to 8 out of the 18 rabbits caught from a large dumping case out of Mankato, MN.

All 8 of these rabbits have multiple life-threatening botfly larvae embedded in their skin, which will need to be painstakingly removed 1 by 1 by our veterinarian. We suspect several of these precious buns will have secondary infections and will require extensive medical treatment to heal from these infestations.

Beyond these urgent medical needs, all 8 of these rabbits will require spaying/neutering, RHDV2 vaccines, and microchips before becoming adoptable.

We are asking for your support today to raise the $9,000+ that it will take to help these rabbits achieve health, happiness, & forever families.

Battleship and Risk are two rats in our care being treated for upper respiratory infections (URIs). Both are experiencing sneezing and mild porphyrin discharge, which can be signs of respiratory stress in rats.

They’ve started oral medications to help clear up their symptoms and are responding well so far.

Ongoing medical care like this is only possible with donations. If you can help offset the cost of their treatment, please consider giving today: https://givebutter.com/zLYEaD

Napoleon, one of our senior guinea pigs, is being monitored by our veterinary team after we noticed changes in a previously stable mass.

He is currently comfortable and receiving pain management, but any sign of growth or internal pressure could lead to new complications. Ongoing observation and follow-up appointments are critical at this stage.

Your donation supports Napoleon’s continued care: https://givebutter.com/zLYEaD

We still need help. Our veterinary expenses for June totaled more than $1,500. The limited funds we have allow us to provide recheck exams, treat infections, and manage chronic conditions that require long-term medication and monitoring.

But here’s the challenge: when we don’t receive enough donations to replenish what we spend, we’re forced to pause or drastically limit new animal intakes.

That means saying no to urgent surrender requests. It means animals in need stay in unsafe or unhealthy environments. And it means fewer adoptable animals on our website, which reduces public interest in visiting our rescue and adopting.

Every animal we care for also brings in new supporters—people who donate, adopt, foster, or spread the word. But when our capacity shrinks, so does our visibility, and over time that affects our ability to grow, fundraise, and fulfill our mission.

If you’re in a position to give, your support today directly allows us to continue this work tomorrow. We can’t move forward without you.
