Fall in Love with Our October Rescues!

October was a busy and rewarding month for the Madison Greene Humane Society! We welcomed 14 new animals into our care and were thrilled to find loving forever homes for 10 of our furry friends. Our team also stayed active in the community with two adoption events at PetSmart on October 24th and 25th, where we met many wonderful animal lovers and helped spread the word about pet adoption. To wrap up the month, we hosted a fun and festive Trunk or Treat event at the shelter on October 31st — complete with costumes, candy, and of course, plenty of wagging tails. Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the month — your kindness helps us continue making a difference for animals in need!

Meet our Adoptable Cats looking for their forever home!

Nala (https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/MGHS-A-597) is a shy girl who will open up with time and lots of pets. Nala loves snuggles, and the comforts of another cat! Nala came to us with her 4 siblings, and mom - and is currently housed with her brother Oliver! She would do great in a quiet home where she can adjust at her own pace.

Flora (https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/MGHS-A-557) is as sweet as can be, she loves head pats and is a very curious girl! She loves to indulge in wet food and make blanket forts as she is a very fun and playful cat. Flora enjoys the company of other cats, but she could also do well on her own soaking up all the attention she can get!

Hammy (https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/MGHS-A-579) is a very wholesome cat - going from once fearful and in pain, to calm and understanding. Hammy has settled into shelter life but would ultimately thrive in a home! Hammy came to us along with his 36+ brothers and sisters, in need of dental work, thin and obviously frightened. He now enjoys lounging in the sun, or the shelter office desk

Gramps was returned to the shelter and is awaiting his purrfect fit. A little bit about Gramps, or as we like to call him “paw paw….” - he is the pioneer of the industrial revolution who has retired his ways, and is now the number one guy for biscuit making and shoulder hugs. His calm attitude allows him to get along with others - till he decides it’s time to mix his cosequin with cat nip and the occasional Bourbon on the rocks which makes him remember his Ex-wife Gertrude, and his time of service…. so we suggest that you just leave him alone till the flash back passes and you’re in the clear. Though this old man has had a fluffy life filled with many challenges since being surrendered, he is the sweetest boy who will win over your heart despite his age. Gramps is just awaiting a dental procedure - but you can still keep him in your home in the meantime! Are you ready to Foster-to-Adopt Gramps? Thank you Lowe's & Volunteers for our new shed!

We want to take a moment to say just how grateful we are for this shed. Now we have a dry, pest-free area to store our litter and supplies for all of our shelter cats. This is crucial for our shelter's function, and we are forever grateful for your generosity of offering both the shed, time, and your service free of charge.

Hey, my name is Drake! I will steal your heart and finger tips. Yes you heard that right, don't touch my belly or I will try and get your fingers! Don’t let that fool you though, I love attention on my terms. Head scratches, I love them, but I will gladly let you know when I have had enough of them. As long as you respect my boundaries we won’t have any beef. I hate to be confined to my cage and get very defensive when people try to pet me in my space. Once I am out of my cage and on the floor I am cool with you. I would love it if you would break me out of the shelter so I could live a free life lounging around your house doing as I please. I’m not much of a player, I prefer to lay around. I get along with select felines at the shelter. Mainly the ones I came into this place with back in February from the hoarding situation, especially my little lady Daisy. The staff here thinks that part of my occasional testy behavior may be dental related as I am awaiting a dental procedure. In the meantime they are allowing me to go into a foster to adopt home, they know I would be much happier there. If you’re interested in meeting me please reach out to the shelter!

Amelia is a very relaxed lady. She spends most of the day in her bed, or up on her shelf gazing out the window. Amelia came to us along with her four grown kittens, and is currently housed with her daughter, Lexi. Amelia does well with other cats, and would do best in a home with another feline companion. Lila is a lovely lady, she loves to chat and adores head scratches! She even loves a good brushing. Lila is very gentle, and doesn't mind being picked up - she is actually a ‘shoulder cat!’ Her favorite place to be is in her person's arms. Lila is estimated to be about 5 years 9 months old. She is suspected to be partially blind, so she may get a little spooked sometimes, but as long as you approach slowly, she is okay! Lila came to us with her family of 36+ and although her past was rough, she is doing so much better. She would thrive in a home that can give her stability and support to find her way! Currently, Lila is eligible for Foster-to-Adopt while she awaits her dental procedure! If Lila sounds like a good match, please consider applying or coming in to meet her at the Madison-Greene Humane Society!
