🐾 Senior Spotlight: Meet Kitten! 🐾

This adorable 11-year-old senior cat — named Kitten (yes, really!) — came in for her geriatric wellness exam today!

Just like humans, senior pets become more vulnerable to health issues as they age. That’s why we recommend wellness exams every 6 months for senior pets. These regular visits help us catch potential problems early before they become bigger concerns.

🚨 Rabies Alert in Southern Minnesota 🚨
We’re sharing this important article from the Minnesota Board of Animal Health: Mower County Farm Cat Tests Positive for Rabies

In this case, an unvaccinated outdoor cat on a Mower County farm bit two children and a dog. Sadly, the cat tested positive for rabies. The children had to undergo post-exposure treatment, and the dog (who was overdue for a booster) is now under strict confinement.

This is why we emphasize keeping your pets up to date on their rabies vaccines. Rabies is fatal, and any mammal—including pets—can be infected through a bite or scratch from infected wildlife like skunks or bats.

What You Can Do:
✅ Vaccinate your pets – dogs, cats, and even outdoor or barn animals.
✅ Supervise them outdoors, especially at dusk or nighttime when wildlife is more active.
✅ Report unusual animal behavior to your vet or local authorities.
✅ Teach kids to never approach unfamiliar animals, even if they seem friendly.
