🐴 Meet Braveheart.

Braveheart is around 18 years old and has been part of our family for about 12 years.

And if you want to know a little about his personality, this photo pretty much says it. 😊

Braveheart is full of personality. He's expressive, playful, and he really likes to play with the ball. I've joked that he's a little like a Labrador in horse form.
He's also a very clear communicator.

A lot of times, during someone's first riding lesson, we don't ride at all. We start by learning about safe communication, brushing, and how horses communicate with us, and Braveheart is often one of the horses I'll choose.

He's really clear about what he likes and what he doesn't like, which makes him a pretty great teacher.

If Braveheart could give us one piece of advice, I think it would be:
Say what you mean and mean what you say.

Something we can probably all learn from. 💚

One of the most meaningful lessons horses teach is that they don't respond to the stories we tell ourselves.

They don't see our job title.
They don't know our past.
They aren't concerned with whether we think we're "doing it right."

They simply respond to who we are in the present moment.

That can be both humbling and incredibly freeing.

Time with horses has a way of helping us notice the stories we've been carrying and gently inviting us to let go of the ones that no longer serve us.

It's one of the many reasons this journey is so transformative.

Running with Horses isn't about learning to ride.

It's about learning to reconnect—with yourself, with others, and with the wisdom horses have to offer.

If you're looking for a different kind of personal growth experience this fall, we'd love to have you join us.

💚 Who might benefit from our Fall Friendship Group?

Every young person is different, but this group may be a good fit for ages 11–15 who:

✨ Enjoy animals, nature, and being outdoors
✨ Learn well through hands-on experiences
✨ Would enjoy opportunities to connect with peers in a small-group setting
✨ Want to strengthen communication and friendship skills
✨ Are building confidence in themselves and their relationships
✨ Would enjoy learning alongside horses in a supportive environment

No horse experience is needed.

And this isn't about being a perfect friend or already feeling confident in a group. It's about having a place to practice.

Throughout the six sessions, participants will have opportunities to work together, take turns, communicate, solve problems, encourage one another, and reflect on their experiences.

Our hope is to create a space where participants can learn, connect, and discover their own strengths—one experience at a time.

📅 Begins September 12
👥 Ages 11–15

🦅 We don't always need to have the answers.

One of the things horses—and nature—continue to teach me is that we don't always have to figure everything out right away.

When something feels uncertain, our first instinct is often to fix it, solve it, or push through it.

But the natural world doesn't rush.

Horses don't rush.

They stay present.
They pay attention.
They respond to what's happening in the moment instead of worrying about what comes next.

I've found that some of life's greatest clarity comes when we're willing to pause... to observe... and to trust that not every answer has to arrive immediately.

Sometimes the next step becomes clear only after we've been still long enough to truly listen.

Nature has a beautiful way of reminding us that there is wisdom in patience.

When people visit the farm for the first time, they often comment on how peaceful it feels.

I don't think it's just the horses.

It's the land.

The trees.

The birds.

The quiet.

The opportunity to step away from the constant noise of everyday life.

Over the years, this has become more than a place where horses live.

It's become a place where people come to breathe, reconnect, learn, heal, and simply be.

I'm grateful to share it with all who visit. 🌿🐴

🌿 What does a session in our Fall Friendship Group actually look like?

This isn't a program where participants simply sit and talk about friendship skills. They'll have opportunities to practice them through hands-on experiences at the farm.

Over the course of the group, participants may:

🐴 Meet and observe members of the herd
🌿 Explore the farm and learn about boundaries and safety
👀 Practice noticing body language and nonverbal cues
🤝 Work together on collaborative farm activities
💚 Groom horses while practicing cooperation and turn-taking
🐎 Navigate activities that involve trust, leadership, and following directions
✨ Reflect on how they showed up as a friend that day

Each experience gives participants an opportunity to learn by doing—alongside peers and our equine partners.

People sometimes ask if I've finished learning from horses after all these years.

The truth is…

I learn something new almost every day.

They continue to teach me about patience.

About trust.

About boundaries.

About leadership.

About slowing down.

About listening more than speaking.

I may be the one facilitating experiences with horses, but the horses continue to be some of my greatest teachers.

For that, I'll always be grateful. 💚

Sometimes it's hard to explain what happens during a Spirit of Equus workshop.

The people who attend often say it best.
💚 "It's probably not like anything else you've tried."
💚 "It's a great way to learn more about yourself and get a new experience."
💚 "To get off the hamster wheel and be outside with a community of like-minded women."

If you've been feeling overwhelmed...

If you've been giving so much to everyone else that you've forgotten to care for yourself...

Or if you're longing for a space where you can simply slow down and breathe...

Our Boundaries & Vulnerability Workshop may be exactly what your heart has been asking for.

Join this Saturday, August 22, as we explore what healthy boundaries look like through the wisdom of horses, mindfulness, and meaningful connection.

🐴 We'd love to welcome you.

There have been days when I had a plan for a horse...

…and the horse had a different idea.

Earlier in my career, I might have pushed forward.

Today, I pay attention.

Sometimes what looks like resistance is actually communication.

Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is pause, listen, and try again another day.

Interestingly, those are often the days when the biggest breakthroughs happen.

The horses continue to remind me that growth isn't something we force.

It unfolds when we're willing to listen.
