🐾 Melody’s Market Day Miracle
The sun was just beginning to shine over Rockport Market Days on 8/16/2025 when Melody, a sweet‑natured dog with soulful eyes, took her very first stroll through the bustling rows of booths. She wasn’t there long before fate intervened. On her very first loop around, two friends spotted her, exchanged a glance, and knew without a single word—this was their dog.

By the end of that same afternoon, Melody (now known as Bramble Jam Lee-Mason) had a new collar, a ride home, and two humans who were already hopelessly in love with her. But their story didn’t end at adoption. Inspired by the joy Melody brought them and wanting to help more animals find their own happy endings, her new family decided to give back.

They owned The Wren’s Wares, a small business dedicated to sustainable self‑care and fragrance—think calming Linen & Body Sprays, blissful Massage Candles, luxurious Oil Perfumes, and nourishing Lotion Bars. They put together a raffle basket featuring their own creations, expecting it to be a modest offering. But the magic of Market Days struck again. One by one, fellow vendors added their own handcrafted treasures. Soon, the basket was overflowing—over $300 worth of goods, each item infused with the love of a community that adores its animals.

The funds from that raffle went straight to Aransas County Animal Care, a gift in Melody’s (aka Bramble) honor. And from that day on, The Wren’s Wares made a promise: every time they attend Rockport Market Days, they’ll build another basket to raise funds for the shelter—because every animal deserves the chance Melody got.

🐾 In Loving Memory of a Cherished Companion Today, our shelter staff stands with Austin, who suffered the devastating loss of his beloved dog due to heat stroke.

Despite the heartbreaking outcome, it’s important to recognize that Austin did everything in his power to save his furry friend—his love, urgency, and effort did not go unnoticed.

🔥 Signs of Heat Stroke in Dogs — Know Them, Act Fast:

Excessive panting or drooling

Disorientation or staggering

Bright red gums and tongue

Vomiting or diarrhea

Collapse or seizures

🚨 What to Do Immediately:

Move your dog out of the heat and into shade or an air-conditioned space.

Begin gradual cooling—use room-temp water, wet towels, and fans.

Let them drink small amounts of cool water if they're alert.

Get veterinary help as soon as possible—even if they seem better.

❤️‍🩹 Pet CPR Steps (If Your Dog Stops Breathing or Has No Pulse):

Lay them on their right side.

Open the mouth and clear any blockage.

Mouth-to-snout breathing: Close their mouth, breathe into the nose every 4–5 seconds.

Chest compressions: 100–120 per minute.

For small dogs: use one hand.

For larger dogs: use both hands over the widest part of the chest.

📣 Please share this in honor of Austin’s pup. Let’s protect the ones who can’t speak for themselves—and make sure no more lives are lost this summer. 💔

Pupdate: Mom dog was captured and is currently being housed with her puppies. Pictures of mom dog below in hopes someone recognizes her and can report the person who dumped them.

🐾 Heartbreak at the Transfer Station 🐾

Today, 8 innocent puppies were discovered dumped at the gates of the transfer station—left alone with no food, no shelter, and no care. 💔 This heartless act is not just cruel—it’s illegal. Surveillance cameras are in place around the transfer station and Animal Care Services, and footage is currently being reviewed to identify the person responsible.

These puppies are now in urgent need of help. With no one to care for them, they face the heartbreaking possibility of euthanasia. Animal Care Services is searching for a rescue organization that can provide full-time care and love to give these pups a fighting chance.

🚨 There’s a possibility the puppies’ mother—a brindle-colored dog—has been spotted roaming the Lonestar & Myrtle area. If you see her, please call 📞 361-790-0151 to report her location. Every lead counts.

👀 If you know or suspect a family member, friend, or neighbor who recently had puppies and now doesn’t—and you believe they may be responsible for dumping these pups—please report it to us. Your tip could make all the difference in holding the right person accountable and preventing more cruelty.

Let’s stand together as a community and be the voice these animals need. Please share this post widely. Someone out there may be the hero these puppies deserve.

👉 Share. Report. Rescue. Let compassion lead the way.
