This October, the pink you see inside our four walls represents so much more than a color.
It represents people we know. People we love. People we sweat beside. Women within our Fit Body Family who have heard the words “breast cancer” and have a story behind them.
Throughout October, we have the privilege of sharing some of those stories with you.
And we begin with Marianne Chapin. 💕
Marianne’s journey began after going years without a mammogram. Her husband was preparing to retire and encouraged her to get everything taken care of while they still had insurance.
So she scheduled one.
Not long afterward, while at the hospital waiting for her dad to come out of surgery, her doctor called.
They had found a tumor in her right breast.
What followed was a lumpectomy, radiation and years of follow-up treatment. But Marianne never walked through it alone. Her daughters came to appointments, taking notes so Mom could simply listen.
And while cancer became part of Marianne’s life, she was determined it wasn’t going to become her whole life.
She still had three horses and four dogs depending on her. Stalls to muck. Dogs to walk. Yoga to teach. A life to LIVE.
What carried her through? Family, her animals, staying active, a positive attitude and believing everything would be okay.
Her words for someone facing this journey today:

💕 You do not have to face this journey alone.
Years later, Marianne found another community at Fit Body.
“I came to Fit Body weakened by all my accidents and recoveries. They helped me grow strong and believe in myself. Fit Body helped me heal physically as well as mentally.”
And in classic Marianne fashion:
“They made me realize I AM MUCH STRONGER THAN I THINK...LOL.” ❤️
Today, she calls our coaches and members her support system, her friends and “members of my tribe.”
