The fireworks have already started!
Noise phobia is very common in pets and we are here to help you prepare for this. There are several things that we recommend when it comes to pets and fireworks and the following article covers these recommendations. If your pet requires anxiety medication, please do not wait to request this. It's never too early to call!

Many pets are fearful and anxious when exposed to fireworks: a response may range from a momentary freeze to extreme panic characterized by bolting or escape attempts.

Microchip Miracle Reunion Alert!

We're thrilled to share the incredible story of Sammy, a beloved cat patient of ours who went missing from his home around Thanksgiving of last year. After months of uncertainty, Sammy was found in Benton, Indiana and brought to a local Spay/Neuter Facility. Thanks to his microchip, his family was finally reunited with him on May 2!

Sammy's journey wasn't without its challenges - he was severely matted and required shaving and had some intestinal parasites and ticks. With care and love, he's now thriving at home. We had the joy of seeing Sammy again for his one-month recheck on Friday, and his family reports that the light in his eyes has come back.

This story highlights the importance of microchipping your pets! We're so grateful for the happy ending and send our best to Sammy and his family. 😺💙

May is National Chip Your Pet Month!

Did you know we now have temperature scanning microchips? Microchips only need to be updated with your current information when it changes, like when you move or change your telephone number. For quality assurance, we will always check your pet's microchip when you're here for an exam to make sure it is still in place and working properly! It's that time of year again!

Noticing a rash on your pet's abdomen? Spring is the season for black fly or no-see-ums bug bites. These bug bites are generally non-painful and resolve on their own in 2-3 says. To limit bug bites, we recommend a pyrethrin based pet safe bug spray (often a horse fly spray works well), sprayed on the hairless areas (often the belly or abdomen) daily before going outside. You can also use a T-shirt or pajamas that cover this area. These bugs are seasonal and mainly out for a few weeks in the spring. If the rash is not going away after 2-3 days, seems painful, or if you have concerns, please call the clinic at 616-863-9390 to schedule an exam.
