Update - as of this morning we need 600$ to cover our bill from last night. If you feel moved to remember these sweet baby souls

Update: it’s with utter sadness that I have to report that it was too late to save the puppies, unfortunately they were too anemic and vomiting and diarrhea and turned out they were positive for parvo. One by one they passed despite our best efforts. The vets tried their best. If we could have pulled them sooner the result would have been different but they were actively dying on the way and while at the vet.

The only comfort we have is that they died with love and care surrounding them and not in the shelter alone suffering in silence. A huge thanks to VCSG STAFF and our Volunteer Teresa

Fosters Needed! SAVE LIVES! 🆘‼️

🙏 Some of these dogs we've already got and fosters are headed on vacation, some are local surrenders we're being asked to take, and some are dogs on the euth list with one of our partner shelters who we WANT to save and bring into rescue, but can't without an offer to foster while they're being matched to their perfect home.

🥹 Look at these babies (litter of 8) who've got just HOURS to live without rescue and their mom, as well as the rest. YOU can help us literally save their lives by applying to foster short-term. For the pups, there are 8 of them and time is short, so we really need 3 sets of ppl willing to take 2-3 short term vs 8 separate fosters. Bonus - if you ARE considering adopting, fosters get first option to adopt once vetted etc!

We can’t let these babies living in a chicken coop suffer at the hands of people and die from bad situations. WE NEED SHORT TERM FOSTERS TODAY!

SPOTLIGHT POST:
📣 HUGO!

Talk about a super nice, constantly overlooked dog - Hugo is a younger, bigger boy at around 70 lbs but just a big ol' baby. Striking brindle coat. Loves nothing more than attention from people and his beloved stuffies! 🐻 He's done great at a few recent public rescue events and can be around other dogs when being walked, etc, but just maybe can't live with another dog full-time. He doesn't understand why he's still with us after a year - we think even a foster where he can be out and about and part of the home would do wonders for him, as he's currently with a foster who has other dogs, so they just have to be crate-and-rotated. His walker volunteers say he's great on a leash. He's maybe some kind of Plott Hound mix? Hard to tell.

Anyone looking for a handsome bigger pup who will be so happy for all the loving you can give? He's estimated young at about 2 years old, although his face definitely gives off senior vibes (happens to the best of us 🤷‍♀️ - but our vet agrees he's only a couple years old. Or know of anyone without other animals who'd be willing to FOSTER this guy even short term and get us more pics and videos of how great he is in the home?

🌞💛 Fun way to kick off Summer Family Fun...
Short-term FOSTERING of a puppy or two! 🐶

We've got a litter of (9) adorable 6-week old puppies surrendered who will be available for adoption in just 2 weeks, but since they're already away from Mom, we'd like to get them split into group of 2-3 pups for more socialization and interaction until they're adopted.

One was actually DNA tested and they're a mix of Elkhound-terrier-GSD as their top 3 breeds, or at least the one that was tested was. (parents are both large dogs - the pups range from 8-14 lbs right now, so quite a range) They could use some TLC and we'll be getting them vetted before adoption. You can do it just to help out and for a fun 2-week family project, or, foster and get first dibs at adoption after you get to know 2-3 if you're in the market for a puppy to add to your family!

KINDER is actually doing great with most MALE dogs! (We thought she was maybe a no-othe-dog dog but seems we were checking mostly females somehow) It seems to be the females she has issues with - we'd want to do a meet of course, but this opens a whole new world of possibility for Miss Kinder!

🙏🥰 Fosters Needed! 🐾
We've got a request for a surrender of this cute little smiley BEAGLE who should likely have interest pretty quickly - 4 year old male beagle mix, smaller like 25 lbs. Good apartment pup, good with other dogs, cats, kids, will be vetted by us. Any other time he would be an EASY yes, but all of our fosters are going on vacation and we're playing pass-the-pups. He needs out of current situation ASAP, owner is not able to keep, so let us know if you can help!

Also - still need help for these 4-5 month old pretty ELKHOUND mix sisters we're taking tomorrow likely, and there is also another litter of 6 week olds same mix we're taking. We did help the owners get the only adult male in the home neutered to get the cycle ended. We need fosters for these girls and the pups - we can't begin to help find them homes and get them vetted until we take them into rescue, and get better pics, and have a PLACE for them. This is an urgent one as these dogs really need OUT of this home, but we've struggled to find fosters. Bc no good pics, which we can't get until we get them in foster... endless cycle! HELP us help them! 💕

Who doesn't love Chocolate Labs? Amazing temperament! Kinder is a young female, estimated 1-2, who we saved alongside some others from an area puppy mill. Maybe she wasn't fertile enough, maybe they just didn't want one more mouth to feed, who knows - but she along with some others was scheduled to be "culled out back" and we were thankfully able to save this sweetheart. 🤎

Kinder just LOVES people, she can never be close enough for her liking.
👀 Do you get lonely as you walk room to room throughout your house? Kinder is your girl!
👀 Enjoy walks but don't like TOO much space in front of you while you walk - Kinder is who you're looking for!
👀 Your chair just too empty for your liking? Say no more!

:D Loyal as they come, Kinder will make any family a great addition.

⚠ Her only caveat - she's the only dog from this group that DOESN'T seem good with most other dogs. Except her brother/relative Rex, she loves him! So if you're looking for a dog who will be more than enough to make you forget about wanting any other dogs - OR, you'd love to adopt (and/or foster) TWO pure labs (Rex is a yellow), you're in luck!

We are yet again inundated with requests to take many many local dogs and we have many dogs who have not got their forever happy thereafters. There are over 100 dogs in the rescue which is at an all time high. Prevention alone runs us over 400$ a month and the handful of heartworm positive dogs makes that monthly cost even more

We have sad news that Ivy was not adopted as planned by her foster but she did test negative for heartworm and should be able to undergo her spay surgery soon. We have found out that 2 more dogs popped positive for heartworm which we cover treatment for their adopters.

Simply put there are more dogs in need and those in need are more involved medically than ever before.

We have a possible fospice case with Georgie - loves all people cats and dogs (just no chickens) as his mouth has stopped working and we are trying to treat a somewhat rare condition that is autoimmune in nature with steroids to help him regain the use of his mouth.

He currently must be hand fed and syringed for water however he is otherwise playful and loving. We don’t want to have to make a euthanasia choice if there’s an alternative. We did a very expensive test to try to get a way to help him.

We have 18 dogs from one property we are trying to help. We already vetted and neutered the only adult male to try to stop the cycle of unwanted puppies. Sadly one mother gave birth in the pen with the other dogs and all 13 were killed. We need more fosters asap.
