(*** Update - between the approved application we have and the many others we have already waiting in queue, we should be set for this pup Thanks!) SOS ~ we’ve got an urgent surrender request for a gorgeous seven-month-old German shepherd male puppy. He supposedly had initial shots, but there are no records, so he will have to be fully vetted by us – we have no foster available for an energetic puppy like him right now, but he’s been around other dogs and kids without issue (besides energetic jumping) - he needs a home and an area where he can run and get some exercise. The family who took him in was living in a one bedroom apartment and are struggling themselves, so we would love to take this boy in and get him some TLC, full meals with enough to eat, plus some room to run. 🥹

Able to foster? Let us know NOW - without someone willing to step up, we won’t be able to take him into rescue, and get him vetted and ready for adoption. He has nowhere to go after this weekend, currently.

Happy Fall, Ya'll! 🍂 How can we NOT share this perfect shot volunteers got of long-time SHDR pup Nova on a walk the other day?! 🧡❤️

Nova is still waiting, after 2 years, for her home. She LOVES people and attention and is awesome with kids. She's great on walks and is well trained all around.

📌 She has two main things working against her, but she's still a CATCH for anyone with no other animals in the home. So yeah, one - she needs to be the only animal in the home. But she's got more than enough love to give that you'll never miss having more dogs, promise! Second, while she LOVES walks... she gets nerved up for car rides. Like very, extremely nerved up. (It's a 💩-show.) Having said that, she really should only have to take a car ride once a year at most to the vet, or - Doorbell Vet or other mobile vets would be *perfect* for this scenario. 👍 Not every dog has to go out and about with their people. ** She's even available with a reduced adoption fee or a part of our Forever Foster program, where we cover vet expenses including preventatives for life!

✨ Champion SILKY TERRIER beauty being surrendered!
She's a DIVA and needs to be someone's one & only 💁‍♀️

She was rescued from a breeder about a year ago after many litters (she's 6 years old) but has suddenly become not good with the other small dog in the home 😔 (she does mostly ignore the larger dog) She LOVES people and attention, but has been going after and attacking the other little Silky in the home and it's not fair to the other dog to live in fear all the time. The surrenderer is not sure about cats, but we'd be cautious since she does go after the other small dog.

📌 We have a *temporary* place for her to go where we can keep her and the other resident dog in separate areas for now, but we're looking for a dog-free foster home (and eventually adopter). She has been quite spoiled in her home the last year as they tried to make up for her years not LOVED like she has been this past year. She loves car rides and is a pretty good walker (she's certainly not going to pull you around!)

Housetrained, crate-trained and is used to sleeping in it overnight, and quite an athletic jumper to get your attention! Just 8-9 lbs and fully vetted.

👀 Looking for a Bold, Beautiful, Brindle Buddy?!
(Both no-fee Forever Fosters or reduced adoption fee)

✅ DOLLY and KINGSTON are applying for the position! Both will thrive as the *ONLY* animal in the home, but Dolly especially is fine encountering dogs out and about - she just doesn't like to share her home turf with one. 🏠 And Kingston also does fine on walks - our volunteers are always amazed how well he walks for such a BIG boy (they do use a no-pull control leash with him which helps a lot with many of our dogs) 🐕🚶‍♀️

🥰 Dolly is about 8 years old and has been with the rescue for years now - her long-time foster had a medical issue and no longer could keep her so she's now unfortunately in overflow foster with other no-other-dogs, so isn't living the chilling on the couch, hanging with the fam experience we'd love for her. She's still got quite a lot of energy for an older lady, but enjoys her naps and chill time, too. She LOVES attention and walks - and car rides. If she sees an open car door anywhere, she's getting in and going wherever they're going!

🤠 Kingston has also been with us for years (he's 3.5 now), and his brother Hugo (now Stormy) was recently placed as a Forever Foster and is living his best life with his forever people, with all of his costs except food covered by the rescue - for life! ❤ Kingston is also available as a part of this program and would thrive with a Forever Foster home, too. Or even someone willing to regular temporarily foster him for now to help us get more pics of him and let him live the family run-of-the-house life he deserves!

Both are not huge at 55-65 lbs and ready for a new home or even a no-dogs foster!

🎉🎂 Happy 6 months old to PINKY!
She’s in the low 20’s for weight and our volunteers rave about how sweet and loveable she and her 3 littermates are. We love their lean Whippet mix looks and plentiful kisses! Perfect lap size and playfulness for days. 🤩

❤️ MILO is just 8.5 months old and was returned from being adopted out as a young puppy by us (bc of a recent family addition and through NO fault of his own!) . He's under 30 lbs and is some kind of adorable smaller medium mix that looked to have some terrier and chihuahua maybe from the appearance of the 3 puppies when we had them. Everyone LOVES this little guy - super sweet, fun puppy energy, fully vetted, and ready to make your home a brighter place! He loves a good snuggle and to chase after a ball. And look at how ADORABLE this little guy is with his striking eyes and random spots! Great with everyone!

🥰🐾 They’re vetted. They’re loveable. And they’re being overlooked.

Right now, six of our sweet pittie-type dogs are waiting in foster homes, and some have been waiting awhile. They’re puppies and adults. They’re good with people, all great with other dogs and most even do well with cats. What they don’t have is the look that automatically gets a second glance in a photo. 👀

❤️ So for these dogs, we’re lowering the adoption fee to $100.

Here’s what that $100 comes with: spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, negative heartworm test, flea/tick prevention, positive training rebate, plus time in a foster home where we know their personality, not just their breed appearance label. Their care costs us far more than $100. We’re not discounting their worth. We’re clearing the way for the right person to say yes. 🤗

🫶 Who's here for our Gentle Giant CODY?
(adopt OR foster!)

And he's not as big as they come - he weighs in still (just barely) in the 2-digit range! 😉 Does he have great body awareness? Not always. But besides cats - he's not got an aggressive bone in his body. He's making huge progress with a no-pull leash and our volunteers are becoming big fans of this big guy!

🙌 He's great with other DOGS and people including school-aged and up KIDS (but just not super small-sized to be safe because of HIS size and possibly knocking over) and was returned after 2 years ONLY because they could not get him to be better with their cats. Just 2 years old and playful but not crazy energy at all.

👉 Even a FOSTER for Cody would be huge as we currently have him in a home with dogs who are not good with others (ONLY because no one will take a 93 lb dog ☹️ to foster so far, even though he's pretty much perfection!), which means he's having to be crated and rotated and not living the home life we want for him.

Come meet this big lug who's got so much love to give and see what all the hype is about - and great things can come in BIG packages, too!
