Peregrine the one eyed pirate 🏴‍☠️… in the words of her foster. 😉

✅A hoot and a half.
✅So much fun - tons of personality and loves voicing her opinions with her husky voice but never actually barks
✅Actually pretty chill considering she’s a husky puppy
✅Isn’t slowed down at all by having only one eye - she’s a sassy little pirate girl!
✅Needs a fenced yard and another dog to play with. If she doesn’t have a playmate she becomes an absolute menace

The first photo was taken the day Rick left for his forever home.

Six months earlier, he had been just minutes away from euthanasia. A scared, struggling dog whose future looked all but certain. Instead, he was given a chance.

Over the next six months, he learned what it meant to be safe, loved, and part of a family. He became part of his foster family's daily life, routines, and heart.

So while everyone was overjoyed when Rick found his forever home, saying goodbye was not easy. Loving a dog for six months and then handing over the leash to someone else comes with a lot of tears.

Today, Rick is known as Zeke.

The second photo was taken this weekend when Zeke came back for a visit.

This is the part people do not always see about fostering. The heartbreak of goodbye is real. But so is the reward. To watch a dog go from being minutes from losing his life to spending his days surrounded by people who adore him is something truly special.

He is loved. He is spoiled. He is exactly where he belongs.

Fostering means loving a dog enough to let him go, even when it hurts.

And sometimes, you get to see them again and be reminded that every tear was worth it. ❤️

Looking for something fun to do with your dog on the weekends? Come join Camp Companion’s Weekly FREE Pack Walk every Sunday at 10:30am! ALL community dogs welcome!

This week’s location (we alternate locations):
HyVee West Circle Drive
4221 West Circle Dr NW, Rochester

Pack walks are a great way to work on calm socialization, confidence building, structure, and basic leash skills in a low pressure group setting. All dogs are welcome, including reactive and anxious dogs. In fact, those dogs are often the ones who benefit most from structured pack walks!

Please share and help us spread the word. We would love to grow this into a fun weekly community activity for dogs and their people!

Comment below to RSVP and if you have any questions! We hope to see you there!

🔔Tripod alert!! 🔔

Angel is a beautiful tortoiseshell female who was found coming out of a wooded area with her 3 kittens (who have all been adopted!!). Poor Angel had a broken leg when she was rescued- it was such a bad break that her front right leg needed to be amputated!

Now she is doing wonderfully on 3 legs. She has the run of the house at her fosters. She doesn’t really love the presence of the other cats, but she tolerates them. She loves to sit by a person and be petted, although she doesn’t really like to be held. She would probably do best in a home as the only cat or at least only one other mild temperament cat.

Who’s looking for a sweet tripod to join their household?? Let’s like, comment, and share to help connect Angel with her forever family!

Quick update on Barnaby from his foster!!

“For those who asked… He's turning into a chonky love bug. He still startles at loud, unexpected noises and doesn't trust that an empty food bowl will be refilled. The other cats can get right up to his kennel now, and he's making friends. I'm getting him used to a collar and leash and laying on the table next to his kennel for our bonding time.”

Thank you to his wonderful foster Kris for working so hard to help this wonderful guy. 🥹

You may remember Koyo, the cat who was found by a kind couple who thought he was deceased on the side of the road?

They quickly contacted us when they realized he was still alive, and he received urgent medical attention, after which he was slowly nursed back to health and learned to trust again in his foster home. This is what his adopter recently posted as an update!!

“This is Koyo, I brought him home 4/28 and was expecting it to take at least a couple months for him to feel comfortable coming out of hiding because of the trauma he'd been through. Thanks to the tremendous effort of his foster Cassidy and a lot of patience, he learned to trust much faster than expected and now he feels safe enough to come out for head scratches, chin rubs and biscuit making. He purrs louder than any kitty I've known and I'm so grateful I get to be his person, he is very loved!”

We LOVE happy updates like these- it’s what makes rescue worth every exhausting moment, and gives us hope for future animals. Thank you for choosing adoption!
